Incubation at FTBI

FTBI's core offer is a place on the NIT Rourkela campus with space, services and professors attached. There is no cohort and no closing date — you apply when you are ready, and every applicant clears an induction round before a place is confirmed. A six-month pre-incubation period comes first, and the application lapses if you do not take it up inside that window.

What you get

• Meeting and conference rooms, an auditorium, printing and admin support
• Company secretary, accounting, legal and IP services, and an advisory committee
• Joint technology development, product development and go-to-market support
• Help preparing for later institutional funding rounds, bank lending and credit assessment
• Introductions to investors, angels and venture funds, and passes to startup summits

Who can apply

• Faculty, alumni and students of NIT Rourkela
• The technology or R&D arm of an existing small or medium enterprise, an industry association or an R&D company wanting a technology link with the institute
• Outside candidates, with no requirement to be connected to the institute
• Your company must be registered with the Registrar of Companies before it can be incubated

How selection works: everyone goes through a compulsory induction round. FTBI's incubation policy covers admission, IP evaluation, seed funding, periodic assessment and the incubation agreement.

How to apply: email your business plan in FTBI's Form 2A format, or submit Form 2A with Form 2B, and pay the application and admission fees in favour of FTBI, NIT Rourkela. Questions go to ftbi@nitrkl.ac.in.
