Before you reach out

Write to the chapter office at ed@coimbatore.tie.org with your stage, sector and what you want help with. The site gives no open application calendar, and the competition pages describe past seasons, so ask about the next intake and about membership fees directly.

TiE Coimbatore is the Coimbatore chapter of TiE, a global network of entrepreneurs. It works to build entrepreneurship in Coimbatore and the surrounding districts of the Kongu region, and has grown to include members from the rest of Tamil Nadu. The chapter runs from an office on Kerala Club Road in ATT Colony.

TiE Coimbatore is a membership and community body. It is not a residential incubator, and its site does not publish an open application for a funded cohort. What it offers is access: speaker sessions and conclaves, mentoring from senior entrepreneurs within the chapter, and a network of founders, professionals and investors. The site lists education, mentoring, networking, investment and incubation as its five pillars.

Membership

The site describes three kinds of membership. Charter members are established entrepreneurs and thought leaders, and charter membership is by invitation only. Members are entrepreneurs and aspiring professionals who want mentoring sessions, access to experts and discounted entry to TiE events. Student and institutional members can join student programmes such as TiE University, learn through bootcamp sessions and intern at member companies. The site does not show fees for these tiers, so ask the chapter before you plan around them.

Programmes

TiE University is the chapter's programme for startups run by college and university students, built around events, mentors and coaches. TiE Women is for women entrepreneurs at every stage, with learning, mentoring, access to funding and community as its pillars. TiE Angels is the network of angel investors across TiE chapters in India: startups apply to the chapter in their own geography, and its angel group evaluates them for funding through a regular calendar of pitch sessions.

The chapter has also run pitch competitions. The Global Pitch Competition is for collegiate startups, open to idea-stage and early-stage teams where one founder is still in college or graduated within the previous two academic years. The chapter's Women Pitch Competition held its 2023-24 season, with workshops on value proposition, investor readiness, compliance and pitch decks before semi-finals and finals. Both pages on the site describe past seasons, so check with the chapter for the next one.

Events

The chapter holds speaker sessions throughout the year and an annual conclave. Its site also documents Greencon, a one-day conclave on sustainable entrepreneurship held in Coimbatore. The site reports 40+ speaker events year on year and 250+ mentoring hours.

Who it suits

A Coimbatore or Tamil Nadu founder who wants mentors, peers and investor introductions will get the most from the chapter, as will student teams and women founders looking for a structured route. Look elsewhere for desk space or a funded cohort.

Who runs it

The chapter is led by an office-bearer team and a governing council of past presidents and charter members. It says it was the first chapter in the world to have an all-women board.
