Shops & Establishments registration under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act
Obtain the Gumasta License (registration under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act 2017) for your shop, office, or commercial establishment operating in Maharashtra.
Every shop, office, restaurant, hotel, cinema, or commercial establishment operating in Maharashtra — from sole proprietorships to large companies. The Gumasta License is state-specific to Maharashtra; other states have their own Shops & Establishments registrations.

Operating without a Gumasta License attracts fines under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act. Banks in Maharashtra typically insist on the Gumasta certificate before opening a current account for a business.
