Who is eligible for the IPR Reimbursement Scheme?

Startups certified by the IT Promotion Cell (SITPC) with a valid startup certificate number and an operational office in Goa are eligible.

What kind of IP is covered under this scheme?

IP created for a technology-based service or product, or IP that uses technology to enhance an existing product or service, is eligible. Both national and international IP registrations are covered.

What is the maximum reimbursement amount?

For national IP, up to ₹2,00,000 (₹2 lakh) per application. For international IP, up to ₹5,00,000 (₹5 lakh) per application.

Can I apply for reimbursement if I received funding for the same IP from another scheme?

No, if you have applied for reimbursement or grant for the same IP in any other scheme (Centre or other State Government), your application will be rejected.

Is there a limit to how many times I can apply?

Reimbursement is one-time per IP application. You cannot apply more than once for the same IP application.

IPR Reimbursement Scheme (2026): Rolling Applications

The IPR Reimbursement Scheme by Goa Startup Mission (SITPC) aims to support Goa-based startups by covering their intellectual property registration costs. This includes both national and international IP applications. The scheme covers fees and all associated costs, irrespective of whether the IP is eventually registered or not. It operates under the framework of the Goa Start-up Policy 2021, providing crucial financial assistance to innovative ventures in the state.

Applications will be reviewed by SITPC. The SITPC reserves the sole right to accept or reject applications. Reimbursement amounts will be released on a seniority basis or SITPC recommendation, subject to budget allotment.

This scheme provides significant financial relief to Goa startups by reimbursing costs associated with Intellectual Property registration. For national IP applications, startups can claim up to ₹2,00,000 (₹2 lakh) per application. For international IP applications, the reimbursement cap is higher at up to ₹5,00,000 (₹5 lakh) per application. The benefit covers 100% of fees and associated costs. A maximum of 200 startups can avail this benefit annually.
