AIC-SMU Technology Business Incubation Foundation (AIC-SMUTBI) was set up in 2018 as one of the 100 world-class incubators envisioned by Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog. It is the first Atal Incubation Centre in North-East India, located at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology on the banks of the Teesta river.
The centre offers an intensive 20-week incubation program based on 12 Critical Success Elements designed to minimize startup failure risk. It provides seed funding up to Rs 25 lakh per startup and has been recognised as a Front Runner by the World Bank, IIT Delhi, and AIM NITI Aayog. Programs include the Wadhwani Foundation Venture Fast-track, SAPNE (Startup Acceleration Program for North East), and the META-supported XR Startup Program.
Early-stage entrepreneurs in North-East India and beyond, particularly those with innovative technology-based ideas seeking structured incubation and seed capital. Youth and student innovators from Sikkim and the North-Eastern states looking for mentorship, lab access, and a pathway from prototype to market.
