What you get, who can apply and how to apply

The PDF is awarded to researchers with a proven academic record, including peer-reviewed publications and recognitions. It is a full-time, non-transferable, temporary position tenable in India only. The fellowship is valid for 1 year. The PDF applicant should be an Indian citizen. PDF applicants currently in regular employment will not be considered. The PDF applicant must have obtained a PhD degree from a recognized University with first class (in terms of grades, etc.) in all preceding levels and a good academic record throughout. The eligible participating institution must ensure that the PDF applicant should have completed PhD within the past 5 years on the last date of submission of application to the institution. PDF applicants should not have completed their PhD at the same institution (host institution) where the PDF fellowship is to be awarded. The upper age limit for the fellowship is 40 years on the date of submission of application to the eligible participating institution (host institution). A suitable Mentor/Guide, under whom the proposed research would be carried out, must be identified by the institution. Mentor/Guide of PDF fellow must hold a regular academic/research position in a recognized institution in India. He/she should hold a Ph.D. degree in Science or Engineering. The research proposal of the PDF applicant, to be submitted to the institution, should define clear objectives, outcomes and deliverables against the award. Preference would be given to the PDF applicants who have active industry linkages and their research proposal is directed towards industry specific problems. Fellowship amount: ₹1,08,393/month, Duration: Up to 1 year, Contingency Grant: ₹ 1,00,000/year (disbursed on a pro-rata basis, e.g. ₹ 25,000/quarter). Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has granted scholarships under the "Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT: Phase II". Admissions are open to the PhD degree program on a full-time basis (one seat under the “Chip to Startup (C2S)” Project). Monthly scholarship of Rs. 38750/- for the first two years and Rs. 43750/- for the rest 3 years (support up to 5 years). Reimbursement of Rent (ROR): As per funding agency norms, if accommodation is not provided by the Institute. Annual contingency grant up to Rs. 1,20,000 per year. Financial Support for attending international conferences. Other terms and conditions: As per the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme Phase –II, funded by MeitY. Minimum Qualifications for students in Engineering Departments: M.E/M.Tech. or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.5 (on a 10-point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks). For SC/ST candidates, a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 (on a 10-point scale) or equivalent (55% of marks). B.E./B.Tech. with an excellent academic record and with a CGPA/CPI of at least 8.0 (on 10 10-point scale) or equivalent (75% of marks). For graduates from IITs/NITs, the minimum CGPA/CPI requirement is 7.0 (on 10 10-point scale). For SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA/CPI or 5% of marks. Specialization in Electronics and Communication Engineering under “Chip to Startup (C2S)” Project: Analog VLSI, Digital VLSI, Mixed-mode VLSI, Chip design, VLSI optimisation, quantum VLSI, Neuromorphic computing, IC packaging, RTL design, Physical design, topics related to VLSI. It is essential to work on research problems having relevance to Industry.
