Is this the right incubator for you

• The foundation takes students, faculty and outside founders, at idea, prototype or early-revenue stage. You do not need to be from Sri Sairam Engineering College.
• It is not sector-agnostic. Its seven thrust areas are defence and aerospace, drones and UAVs, robotics, healthcare, agriculture, solid waste management, and additive manufacturing. Lead with the one you fit.
• Everything happens on the Chennai campus at West Tambaram, so plan on being able to get there.

How applications work

• There is no portal and no form to fill. You pitch your idea to the incubation panel.

What to have ready

• A short written summary of what you are building and which thrust area it sits in. The site's own form asks you to say what you are building, so make that first message count.
• Whatever you have built so far, since the foundation describes its role as carrying a team from a first rough prototype to its first real customers.
• Your registration status. The foundation separates DPIIT-recognised startups from the rest when it lists its portfolio, so say where you stand.

Ask these before you commit

The foundation publishes none of the following, and you should settle all of them in your first conversation:

• How long incubation runs, and whether there is a fixed term.
• Whether there is any fee, and whether the foundation takes equity.
• What the incubation panel assesses, and how long a decision takes.
• Which labs and equipment on the campus you would actually get to use, and on what terms.
• What the "funding" mentioned on its site means in practice, and whether it comes from the foundation or from schemes it helps you apply to.

Sri Sairam Techno Incubator Foundation is a campus incubator in Chennai, set up in September 2020 inside Sri Sairam Institutions at Sai Leo Nagar, West Tambaram. It sits on the Sri Sairam Engineering College campus and offers incubation, labs, mentors and funding support in one place, with the stated aim of taking a team from a first prototype to a first customer. Its own counters say 92 startups have been incubated there, 32 of them women-led and 12 in defence.

Who can apply

The foundation is open to outside founders, not only to the college. Its own words are that students, faculty and external startups apply, at the idea, prototype or early-revenue stage, and that "students, faculty and external teams are all welcome" to pitch. That is unusual enough among college-attached incubators to be worth stating plainly: you do not have to be a Sairam student to approach it.

It is also not sector-agnostic. The foundation names seven thrust areas and says these are the problems its labs, mentors and partners are set up to help with: defence and aerospace, drones and UAVs, robotics, healthcare, agriculture, solid waste management, and additive manufacturing. Robotics is described as autonomous systems and applied robotics for the factory floor and beyond. A team working outside those seven areas has a weaker case here.

How to apply

There is no application portal, no application form and no published deadline. The foundation asks you to pitch your idea to its incubation panel, and the only routes in are the short contact form on its site, its phone line, or email to incubation@sairam.edu.in. A second address, queries.rd@sairam.edu.in, is listed for R&D queries. Every "Apply" and "Apply for incubation" button on the site scrolls down to that contact block rather than opening a form, so expect a conversation rather than an online intake.

The foundation does not publish what its panel looks for, how long a decision takes, how long incubation runs, whether it charges anything, or whether it takes equity. None of that is stated anywhere on its site, so ask on first contact.

Startups from this campus

The foundation lists the companies building from the campus in two groups: nine it marks as DPIIT-recognised, and a longer list of companies without that recognition. The DPIIT-recognised names are Armor Grandeur, Creasys Technologies, Universys Technologies, Sanjmar Industries, MAM Industries, Genik Technologies, LMES Academy, Hakate Technologies and Ernosys Technologies. The two lists overlap — every DPIIT name appears in the second list as well — and the list holds roughly eighty distinct names against a headline count of 92, so treat both as the foundation's own record rather than an exact roster.

What happens on campus

The foundation runs sessions and hosts visitors rather than named cohorts. In June 2026 it ran a session on the legal foundations of growth at the campus's Isaac Newton Hall, covering how to choose a business structure, protect intellectual property and stay compliant. In September 2026 it hosted the chief executive of Macquarie University's Cyber Skills Academy, and in July 2026 a delegation from Malaysia's Ministry of Education toured the campus and met incubated startups, a visit the foundation credits HCL with arranging. It has also hosted a Campus Students Summit with a scientist from STPI Chennai, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, though its own page names that summit a 2026 edition while dating the session to January 2025. The campus also opened the COSMOS Sri Leo Muthu Space-TVET Centre in August 2026, inaugurated by alumnus Dr P. Veeramuthuvel, project director of Chandrayaan-3, who funded it from part of a state award. That centre belongs to Sairam Institutions rather than to the foundation.

What the site does not say

The foundation names no director, no team and no mentor, publishes no facility list beyond the general mention of labs on campus, and claims no recognition from any government scheme or department. Sairam Institutions separately runs a student innovation ladder through its innovation portal — a sequence of ideathons and hackathons aimed at students under a "one student, one startup" goal — but that is the institution's programme, not the foundation's.
