Who can apply
- Students, researchers, entrepreneurs, startups, MSMEs, innovators, technology-driven businesses and social enterprises

How selection works: applications are reviewed for how novel and technically workable the idea is, its market potential, the company's competitiveness and adaptability, its growth potential and financial sustainability, whether it can create jobs or revenue, the promoters' record with earlier ventures, whether the business plan is sound, and whether the company genuinely needs an incubator. Once a plan is accepted and the company inducted, an executive and steering committee reviews it periodically.
How to apply: fill the incubation application form on the incubator's site. It asks for the problem and your solution, what is new about it, the technology behind it, competing products and who buys, how far development has got and how long to a prototype or field test, and the funding you are looking for. Idea Corner
ProgrammeA route in for people with an idea but no company: a panel reviews it, and a shortlisted idea goes on to business-plan help and a pitch to the incubator's executive members.

Idea Corner is the incubator's front door for people who are not ready to apply for incubation. You send in your idea and a panel of technical and management experts looks at how novel it is and whether it can be commercialised and scaled.
What you get
- A review of your idea by a panel drawn from both technical and management backgrounds
- If shortlisted, help from the incubator's experts with the technicalities and procedures of preparing a business plan
- A chance to pitch that plan to TBI NITC's panel of executive members; if it is approved, you are inducted as an incubatee on the normal terms
Who can apply
- Anyone with a new and innovative idea; no company or business plan is needed
- Ideas in biotechnology, nanotechnology, renewable energy, agriculture, IT and ITeS, and electronics are given high priority
How selection works: the panel assesses how innovative the idea is and whether it can be marketed, commercialised and scaled. The incubator says it will come back to you only if the idea is shortlisted.

This is not an open call. It describes the routes through which incubatees of TBI NITC can be put up for seed funding once they are inside the incubator.
What you get
- A scheme funded by the central electronics and IT ministry, which the incubator may operate as a soft loan or as a mix of loan and equity
- The incubator's own incubation fund, operated as a soft loan at a nominal rate of interest
- A Technology Development Board seed fund, with its own management committee for selecting and monitoring companies
- The Ministry of MSME's grant under its incubator scheme, for product-development proposals
Who can apply
- Companies already incubated at TBI NITC
How selection works: each route has its own committee. For the MSME route, product-development proposals are first selected by a managing committee made up of the incubator's executive committee members, the head of the state MSME Development Institute and an industry expert, then forwarded to the Development Commissioner (MSME), who runs a second round of selection.
How to apply: there is no separate form. Get into the incubation programme first, then raise funding with the incubator. Treat the published detail as background rather than a live offer: the page uses the electronics department's pre-2016 name and gives no sanction dates, so ask at tbi@nitc.ac.in what is currently available.

Neither of these tells you whether the backing is current, because neither source publishes a period. The incubator makes no Atal, NIDHI, DPIIT or Startup India claim anywhere on its site.
Set up by the Department of Science and Technology with NIT Calicut· 2003
The incubator's own about page says it was "set up by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and National Institute of Technology, Calicut in 2003-2004". That is a first-party statement about how the centre was established, not that it currently holds a NIDHI-TBI sanction: the site nowhere describes a NIDHI recognition, and its NIDHI PRAYAS menu item leads to a page marked under construction. Whether DST support is current cannot be told from the site.
Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)
Listed at entry 541 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY CALICUT" (KOZHIKODE, KERALA), checked 24 September 2026. The listing names the host institute rather than the incubator. It is the status that lets an innovator name the institute as their Host Institute when applying on the ministry's own portal. The list gives no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it; and being listed is a capacity registration, not evidence that the institute has ever hosted an approved idea. Separately, the incubator's own funding page describes the Ministry of MSME's grant under its incubator scheme and the committee that selects for it.
