Start by asking, because nothing is published

Aditya University does not publish an application form, an eligibility rule, an intake date or a fee for AGBI. There is no incubation inbox either, so your first contact will be the university's general helpline or its info address, and you should expect to be routed. Write a short note that says who you are, whether you are a student, faculty member or an outside founder, what you have built, which of AGBI's six sector areas you sit in, and exactly what you want from them — a desk, mentoring, lab access, or help with a government scheme. Ask three questions outright: can a founder unconnected to the university be incubated, what does incubation cost, and does AGBI take equity. None of the three is answered anywhere on the site, and the answers should shape whether you go further.

The government route is the one with a real mechanism

Aditya University is a listed Host Institute for the incubation component of the Ministry of MSME's Innovative Scheme, and it ran the expert evaluation round of MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0 in August 2026. Under that scheme you apply on the ministry's own portal and name a host institute, rather than applying to the institute. If your idea fits and you are looking for a host in coastal Andhra Pradesh, that is a concrete way in, and it also gives your enquiry a reason the incubator will recognise. Check the ministry's portal for the current call before you write.

What to have ready

AGBI's own emphasis suggests a preference for teams that need business scaffolding as much as technology: it lists company registration, accounting, legal and compliance, HR and marketing support alongside mentoring and lab access. So come with a clear problem statement, whatever you have working, and an honest list of what you cannot do yourself. If your work is in agriculture or software you are on the strongest ground — a government incubator listing records agriculture and IT as this incubator's thrust areas, which is narrower than the six areas the page advertises.

If you are a student or a faculty researcher

You have the easier path. AGBI's mission is written around students, alumni and faculty, and the campus also runs an Entrepreneurship Development Cell and an Institution's Innovation Council, which hold hackathons, bootcamps and awareness programmes through the year. Faculty with a patent should note that the university publishes a list of patents offered for commercialisation, and that bridging research into a company is one of AGBI's stated aims.

AGBI has run short programmes — Idea Spark, a digital business readiness bootcamp, a design thinking and IPR session, an entrepreneurship awareness programme — but it publishes no calendar for them, and past editions have no pages of their own. The university's news and events page is where campus activity is announced, so check it for the next edition rather than waiting for an announcement on the incubator's page.

Aditya University is a state private university at Aditya Nagar, ADB Road, Surampalem, in Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh. It was established under the Andhra Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2016 and grew out of Aditya Engineering College, which was founded in 2001 under the Aditya Academy educational group; the Academy itself is a non-profit educational society founded in 1984. For founders, the part that matters is the Aditya Global Business Incubator, or AGBI, which the university presents as its incubator on its own website.

AGBI describes itself as a launchpad for dreamers, innovators and changemakers, and addresses three audiences: a student with an idea, a startup ready to scale, and a faculty researcher who wants to commercialise research. The middle one is the reason this page exists — a startup ready to scale is not by definition someone on campus. Be aware, though, that AGBI's own mission paragraph is written around the campus, promising to inspire and train students, alumni and faculty. The university never states whether a founder with no connection to Aditya can be incubated, and it never states that they cannot. If that is your situation, treat it as an open question to raise in your first email rather than something the site has answered.

What AGBI offers

AGBI publishes a list of thirteen things it supports incubatees with: mentoring, marketing support, technical support, company registration, funding support, office space, meeting room access, conferences and workshops, government schemes and grants, access to university laboratories, legal and compliance support, human resources support, and accounting and finance support. That is a broad list and none of the items is described in any detail — there is no page behind any of them. It does tell you the shape of the place: a campus incubator that expects to help a small team with the practical business scaffolding as much as with the technology.

Six sector areas are named: technology and AI, healthcare and biotech, agritech and sustainability, fintech and edtech, e-commerce and retail tech, and renewable energy and cleantech. A government listing of technology business incubators records a much narrower focus for the same incubator — agriculture and IT — so read the six areas as ambition and the two as the track record, and expect agriculture and software teams to have the easiest conversation.

AGBI also shows five short programmes it has run: Idea Spark-2025, a Digital Business Readiness bootcamp, a three-day design thinking and IPR session, a Management Development Program and an Entrepreneurship Awareness Program. These are photographs with titles, without dates, descriptions or eligibility, so it is not possible to say whether any of them was open to people outside the university, or whether any will run again. They are worth knowing about as evidence that the incubator does things, not as something you can sign up for.

Who can apply, and how

This is where the page runs out. Aditya University publishes no eligibility criteria for AGBI, no application form, no intake window or deadline, no selection process, and no statement of what incubation costs or whether equity is taken. There is no inbox or phone number for the incubator specifically — the only channels on the site are the general university helpline and its info address, which is an admissions desk. Across the whole site, which runs to several hundred pages, AGBI's page is the only incubation page there is.

So the practical route is an enquiry, and the second practical route is a government scheme. Aditya University is on the Ministry of MSME's register of Host Institutes for the incubation part of the MSME Innovative Scheme, and it is not a dormant listing: in August 2026 the university ran the expert evaluation and idea presentation round of MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0, under the name Aditya University (HIBI). In that scheme the innovator applies on the ministry's own portal and names a listed host institute, which means an outside founder has a real mechanism for working with this campus even though the incubator publishes none of its own.

Facilities and campus

The office space and meeting rooms AGBI offers are on the Surampalem campus, as is the lab access it mentions, though no specific laboratory or instrument is named. The wider campus carries what a university campus carries — academic blocks, laboratories, a central library, campus Wi-Fi, hostels and sports facilities — and those belong to the university rather than to the incubator. The university says it is recognised by the UGC and holds NAAC A++ accreditation, with several engineering programmes accredited by the NBA. It runs schools of Engineering, Computing, Business, Sciences and Pharmacy, and it publishes a list of faculty patents offered for commercialisation, which is the likeliest source of the research-commercialisation work AGBI talks about.

Who runs it

No one is named as running AGBI. The university's leadership page lists a Chancellor, Dr N Sesha Reddy, a Vice Chancellor, Dr M.B. Srinivas, three Pro Vice-Chancellors, a Registrar and a set of Deans including a Dean of Research and Consultancy, but the incubator is not mentioned on that page and AGBI's own page names no staff at all. A separate Entrepreneurship Development Cell and an Institution's Innovation Council run student-facing activity on campus, including an internal Smart India Hackathon round and a five-day entrepreneurship bootcamp; neither is the incubator, and neither takes applications from outside founders.

Where it is

One campus, one address, one incubator: Aditya Nagar, ADB Road, Surampalem, Kakinada District, Andhra Pradesh - 533437. Surampalem is the village and Kakinada the district, so the same place is written both ways in different directories, and the same incubator appears in government lists under Aditya Global Business School and under Aditya Engineering College — all of them neighbours on this one campus. Aditya Institute of Technology and Management at Tekkali, in Srikakulam district, is a different institution and should not be confused with it. The university also publishes a careers page and a news and events page, which is where any future call would most likely appear first.
