About AngelsTN

AngelsTN is an online platform run by StartupTN, the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, a Section 8 company under the MSME Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It is based in Chennai and is built for Global Tamil Investors and Mentors. The aim is to make it easy for Tamil Nadu based startups to meet angel investors, and easy for those investors to back them.

Who the investors are

AngelsTN says it aims to onboard angel investors from the Tamil diaspora across countries and build an inclusive angel community from them. Investors and angel networks create a profile on the portal. Their names are published on the portal after a review by StartupTN. The site does not name individual members on its public pages, so you see the group only after you register.

How the platform works for a founder

A startup creates a profile by submitting basic information and uploading its pitch deck, revenue model, traction and the fundraise it is seeking. It is onboarded after a verification process and its profile is then published on the portal. Once signed in, a founder can browse a personalised list of investors based on the sectors they want to invest in, read their profiles, and send an invitation to those they want to talk to.

How investors find you

Investors see a personalised list of startups based on focus sector, stage and funding asked. They can read each startup's problem statement, solution, current stage, pitch deck and traction. When one catches their interest, they connect directly with the founder to discuss further. The community can connect with startups in the pipeline based on their sectors of interest among other criteria.

What the platform says it adds

AngelsTN states that it will also provide the support needed for the successful closure of deals. It is a matching and introduction platform, so any investment decision stays with the investor and the founder.

Who it is for

The platform is meant for startups based in Tamil Nadu. Register on the site as a startup, or as an angel network if you invest. A contact address, phone numbers and an enquiry form are given on the site for questions.
