About BIRAC Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG)

The Biotechnology Ignition Grant is BIRAC's early-stage biotech funding programme, open to individuals as well as companies. KIIT-TBI is one of the partners that screens and hosts BIG applicants, and it runs a BIRAC BIG innovation lab on site.

What you get

  • Grant-in-aid over eighteen months to upscale and validate a proof of concept
  • Support to take a technology closer to market through a startup

Who can apply

  • Individuals — students, academics, scientists, clinicians and researchers
  • Biotech startups less than five years old

How selection works: An eligibility check and preliminary selection committee, where the BIG partner scrutinises you against the scheme criteria; an online review scored by subject experts on technical detail; a one-to-one presentation before a thematic technical expert panel; then the expert selection committee.

How to apply: Apply through the BIG call when it is open, naming KIIT-TBI as your partner incubator.
