Soma is a deep tech accelerator and SaaS platform based in India, operating under the broader India Accelerator ecosystem. It was designed to address a specific gap in the Indian startup landscape: the lack of structured support for startups rooted in scientific research and engineering innovation. Soma brings together government agencies, industrial partners, academic institutions, and venture capital to create an integrated support system for deep tech founders.
Soma operates as a hybrid model that combines a digital platform with hands-on acceleration. The SaaS component connects deep tech startups to relevant resources, partners, and funding opportunities, while the accelerator component provides structured mentoring and milestone-based support. The platform has partnered with MeitY Startup Hub (MSH), the nodal body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to support technology-driven startups in India.
Deep tech founders working in scientific research, engineering innovation, hardware, and frontier technologies. The program is designed for startups that require longer development timelines and specialized infrastructure, which are common in deep tech but poorly served by standard accelerators.
Soma addresses one of the biggest structural challenges in Indian deep tech: the fragmentation of support across government, academia, and industry. By building a platform that connects these three pillars, Soma reduces the friction that deep tech founders face when trying to access labs, grants, and domain expertise. Its partnership with MeitY gives it institutional credibility and access to government resources that are otherwise difficult for individual startups to navigate.
