About Incubation at TREC-STEP
This is TREC-STEP's main offer and the one route the site publishes a form for. It assumes you will set up your venture on the campus in Trichy: incubatees take either a nursery shed sized for machinery or a smaller cubicle in the New Incubator Building. There is no intake window — the form is open.
What you get
- Nursery incubation space or a ready-to-use cubicle, with electricity and water connections, internet and office support arranged together.
- Access to the Common Production Facility, a shared workshop with production machinery, tooling, skilled operators and design software.
- Strategic support on your market, technology and venture plan.
- Help putting start-up funding together, including due diligence preparation.
- Introductions to a national network of intellectual-property attorneys who work with start-ups.
- Global connectivity and links into the international incubator networks TREC-STEP built through its World Bank and European Union projects.
- Technical review and support from its Technology Angel Network of NIT Tiruchirappalli faculty, regional research institutions and centres of excellence.
Who can apply
- Founders of knowledge-based or innovative technology ventures who intend to start up at TREC-STEP, Trichy — the form asks this directly.
- Individuals. The form is completed by a person, not a company, and the site states no incorporation requirement.
- Outside founders, not only NIT Tiruchirappalli students or staff. TREC-STEP is a separate society next door to the institute.
- Clean tech, engineering, manufacturing, information technology, bio-tech, nano-tech and medical-device ventures all appear on its incubatee list.
How selection works: not published. The form asks for a project description, your critical assumptions, what is innovative about it, five-year sales, expense and profit estimates, the resources you need from TREC-STEP, and three written answers — why you are the right person, why the project may fail and why it will succeed.
How to apply: download the Incubation Application form linked from the About Us page, complete it and send it to the Executive Director, TREC-STEP, Tiruchirappalli 620015. Call the Trichy office to confirm it arrived; no acknowledgement or timeline is published.
