• Check fit first. The firm describes itself as early stage (seed through series A/B) and focused on Southeast Asia and India. A company with no link to either region is a weak fit.

What the firm does not say

Where it is based in India

The firm lists offices in Bangalore and Gurugram. The site does not say that a meeting there can be booked without going through the form.

Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India is an early-stage venture capital fund that invests in startups in Southeast Asia and India. It is part of the Vertex global network of funds, with sister funds in China, Israel, Japan and the US. On its site the firm says it has invested in more than 90 startups at their seed, series A/B round, and it describes itself as one of Southeast Asia's oldest venture capital funds. For an Indian founder, the relevant fact is that it keeps two offices in India, in Bangalore and Gurugram, alongside its Singapore office.

The firm calls itself sector agnostic. Its stated thesis is the growth of the digital economy in Southeast Asia and India, driven by the rise of the consumer class, tech-enabled digital financial services, the digitalisation of small businesses and better infrastructure. Its portfolio page groups companies under consumer, enterprise, fintech, sustainability and healthtech. It says many portfolio companies contribute to economic empowerment, MSME enablement, inclusiveness and climate action, and that it backs founders regardless of theme, industry or gender.

Beyond capital, the firm says it works closely with founders on introductions to valuable contacts, hiring key management, go-to-market strategies and fundraising.

How to reach the firm: its contact page says that applications for investment go through the Pitch to Us button on the website, which opens a form. It publishes no application window, deadline, minimum traction or selection criteria, and no investment inbox. Separate inboxes on its contact page are for careers, press and ESG queries, and those are not the route for a pitch. Treat the firm as an investor you pitch, not a programme you apply to: there is no cohort.
