World Food Prize Foundation

The World Food Prize Foundation was established in 1986 by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Norman Borlaug, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa. The foundation administers the annual World Food Prize, a 250,000-dollar award that recognises breakthrough achievements in improving the quality, quantity, and availability of food worldwide. Often described as the Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture, the prize has been awarded annually since its inception. The foundation also operates extensive youth education programs focused on global food security and agriculture. The Global Youth Institute selects over 100 exceptional high school students annually for a three-day academic conference, with nearly 4,000 delegates having participated since 1994. State and international Youth Institutes reach more than 1,800 students annually through partnerships with agricultural universities across 9 countries. The foundation provides internship and programming opportunities to develop the next generation of food security leaders.
