MASI-recognised Assam startups (Private Limited / LLP / Partnership / One Person Company), within 7 years of incorporation (10 for biotech), with annual turnover ≤ ₹25 crore, working on innovation / technology / IP-driven products, and either incorporated in Assam or employing 50%+ workforce in Assam.

How much funding does the Scale-Up Grant offer?

Up to ₹50 lakh per startup, inclusive of the ₹5 lakh Idea2POC Grant. If the startup has already drawn the ₹5 lakh Idea2POC, it can access up to ₹45 lakh of additional Scale-Up funding.

Does the Government of Assam take equity?

No. The grant is non-dilutive — the Government of Assam does not take equity in the startup.

Is there a deadline to apply?

No. The Scale-Up Grant runs on a rolling basis. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis through the Startup Assam Dashboard once the startup has been issued its MASI ID.

First register your entity on the Startup Assam Portal (startup.assam.gov.in) and obtain MASI. Once MASI is granted, the Scale-Up Grant application form becomes visible on your Startup Assam Dashboard.

Assam Scale-Up Grant — up to ₹50L for MASI Startups – Up to ₹50 Lakhs

The Scale-Up Grant is a flagship incentive under the Assam Startup Policy 2017, offered by the Department of Innovation, Incubation and Start-ups, Government of Assam. Startups recognised under MASI (My Start-up Assam ID) are eligible for a grant of up to ₹50 lakh per startup to move beyond proof-of-concept into product commercialization and scale.

The grant is inclusive of the ₹5 lakh Idea2POC Grant — meaning a MASI-recognised startup that has already drawn the Idea2POC component can access up to ₹45 lakh in additional Scale-Up funding. The remaining grant amount may be utilised toward raw material procurement, marketing spend, commercialization activities and other scaling-up costs as identified by the startup.

Eligibility for both the Idea2POC and Scale-Up Grants is evaluated by Nodal Agencies designated by the State Government as per the operating guidelines under the Assam Startup Policy. Approved disbursals are made directly to the startup's registered bank account, typically within 2–4 weeks of Startup Council approval.

The scheme runs on a rolling basis — there is no fixed annual deadline. Applications are submitted through the Startup Assam Dashboard once a startup has been issued its MASI ID. The same portal also unlocks other Assam-Startup benefits, including a Sustenance Allowance (₹20,000 / month per startup for one year, with preference to women entrepreneurs) and the Sarothi loan-interest-subvention scheme.

Applications are routed through Nodal Agencies designated by the Government of Assam under the Assam Startup Policy operating guidelines. The Nodal Agency reviews the startup's MASI status, business plan, PoC evidence and proposed scale-up use of funds. The Nodal Agency forwards a recommendation to the Assam Startup Council, which approves the grant amount and authorises disbursement. Approved funds are credited to the startup's registered bank account, typically within 2–4 weeks of Council approval.

The Idea2POC portion (first ₹5 lakh) covers product/service proof-of-concept development; the remaining (up to ₹45 lakh) can be utilised for raw material procurement, marketing spend, commercialization and other scaling costs.
