DevFusion 3.0, organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, is an exclusive online hackathon designed for aspiring app developers among school and college students. This multi-round
competition challenges participants to showcase their mobile application development skills, culminating in the creation of a fully functional app based on a revealed problem statement. Who Should Apply This hackathon is open to school students (Grade 10, 11, or 12) and college students from the 2028 to 2032 graduation batches. Participants must form teams of 2 to 4 members, with each member registered individually on Unstop. The competition is specifically for those interested in building mobile applications. Competition Structure & Timeline DevFusion 3.0 features a rigorous four-round structure: Round 0 – Screening Round: An initial assessment of participant intent, background, and app development experience through a detailed form. Round 1 – Aptitude Round: An online test evaluating logical reasoning, technical fundamentals, and problem-solving abilities. Round 2 – Previous Project Submission Round: Shortlisted teams submit a mobile application they have previously built, including APK/live link, GitHub repository, and a write-up. Round 3 – Main Hackathon (App Development): The core 48-hour hackathon where teams build a new mobile application based on a problem statement revealed at the start. Submissions require a working APK/live link, public GitHub repository, demo video, and README. Round 4 – Interview Round: Top teams from Round 3 will present their solutions to an evaluation panel. The event spans from June 1, 2026, to June 28, 2026, with the registration deadline on June 15, 2026. Building Rules & AI Tools Policy Teams are encouraged to use any mobile development framework (Flutter, React Native, Kotlin, Swift, Dart) and open-source libraries. Pre-built projects or work started before the hackathon window are strictly prohibited. Regular code commits are expected, and git history will be reviewed. The use of AI tools like GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT for assistance is permitted, but the core logic, architecture, and implementation must be the team's original work. Submission Guidelines Each submission for the main hackathon (Round 3) must include a working app link/APK, a public GitHub repository with clear commit history, a 3-5 minute demo video (unlisted YouTube/Google Drive link), a comprehensive README file, and a short write-up via the Unstop form. All links must be functional and publicly accessible. Judging Criteria & Prizes Projects will be evaluated across six criteria: Code Quality (25 points), App Functionality & Performance (25 points), UI/UX Design (20 points), Tech Stack Choices (15 points), Documentation & README (10 points), and Demo Video & Presentation (5 points). The top three winning teams will receive goodies and an internship opportunity. Intellectual Property & General Terms Participants grant organizers the right to showcase their projects with full credit. Proper licensing and attribution are required for any third-party assets or open-source code. The organizers reserve the right to modify rules, with participants notified of significant changes. All disputes will be resolved by the organizers' interpretation of the rules. DevFusion 3.0 is entirely online, and participants are responsible for their own connectivity and setup.
Open to school students (Grade 10-12) and college students (2028-2032 graduation batches) in teams of 2-4 members, focused on mobile app development.
