Programmes they run
Standing programmes at CSVTU Foundation, separate from the funding calls above.
One funding call is open: the Ignition Grant, whose guidelines were re-issued in January 2026. Several other pages have not been refreshed — the MSME incubation page describes a call that closed in July 2023, and both internship pages carry 2023 deadlines. Check current status with the office before preparing an application.
Ignition Grant under NIDHI i-TBI
Grant schemeGrant support for an individual innovator or an early-stage startup to turn a science or technology idea into a physical prototype.
Best for: Individual innovators and early-stage startups building a physical product prototype
- Idea – Prototype
- Prototype to be completed within 12 to 14 months
- In person
- Free
- Grant support for selected startups
With NSTEDB, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
The Ignition Grant is CSVTU-FORTE's open funding call under the DST NIDHI Inclusive Technology Business Incubator at CSVTU Bhilai. It is grants-in-aid for converting an idea into a prototype or product that can be commercialised, and its guidelines were re-issued on 20 January 2026.
What you get
- Grant support to build a prototype, with the amount set by the selection committee
- Spending is allowed on outsourced research and design engineering, consultancy, testing and expert cost, raw material, consumables and spares, and fabrication of a working model
- Business travel and event fees, patent filing and contingency are each allowed up to a capped share of the approved project cost
- Mentoring through the incubator and access to its campus workshop and labs
Who can apply
- An individual innovator with no company, or a co-founder of a startup
- Indian citizens with government proof of nationality
- For a startup: registered in India, controlling equity held by Indian citizens, and annual turnover within DPIIT limits for every year since it started
- The innovator should have a technical background, and should own the know-how or hold the right to use it
- The prototype must be a physical product and completable in 12 to 14 months
- Not eligible: pure software, e-commerce, service solutions, app-based solutions, and anything already past prototype stage
How selection works: The incubator invites proposals through an open call. A screening and monitoring committee — which can include technical, domain and financial experts, an entrepreneur, other incubator heads and a Department of Science and Technology representative — selects the innovators and then monitors their progress. Each selected innovator signs an agreement with the incubator.
How to apply: Respond to the open call announced on the CSVTU-FORTE home page, and submit through the incubation form on the site. The guidelines are signed from the Director's office, reachable at director_forte@csvtu.ac.in.
Note that the i-TBI web page states two rules the 2026 guidelines do not — a minimum applicant age of 18 and a startup no older than two years. Check which set applies to your round.
Rural Incubation Centre
IncubationThe incubator itself — on-campus support for ventures building rural or socially inclusive business models.
Best for: Founders building rural or socially inclusive businesses, and students of CSVTU-affiliated colleges

What you get
- Mentoring organised through the incubator, plus knowledge sessions run as capacity-building
- Introductions to investors
- Use of the campus incubation space: co-working, fabrication workshop, electronics and computer labs, meeting rooms and an exhibit room
- Induction training for selected startups covering funding, pitching, market research, intellectual property and branding

- Stages accepted run from idea and proof of concept through prototype, product development, early adopters and paying clients
- The foundation says entrepreneurs from across India are welcome
How selection works: The foundation's pages describe the need for a standard sourcing and screening procedure but do not publish the procedure itself, so expect to be assessed case by case.
How to apply: Fill the incubation form reached from the "Apply for Incubation" button on csvtuforte.com. General questions go to info@csvtuforte.com.

The cart is a mobile unit for selling millet-based food, snacks and drinks. The notice was dated 10 March 2026 and applications closed on 21 March 2026, so this is a past round.

Who can apply

How to apply to CSVTU Foundation
About CSVTU Foundation
CSVTU Foundation for Rural Technology and Entrepreneurship, known as CSVTU-FORTE, is a Section 8 company formed under the Companies Act 2013 and working under the aegis of Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University in Bhilai. It runs the university's incubator from UTD Block-II on the CSVTU Bhilai campus at Newai, in Durg district of Chhattisgarh. Its stated purpose is to incubate startups built on grassroots technology and to support rural and underserved communities.
CSVTU-FORTE is the special purpose vehicle through which CSVTU operates a NIDHI Inclusive Technology Business Incubator, or i-TBI. NIDHI is a programme of the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board at the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The university has leased CSVTU-FORTE 20,000 square feet on campus for incubation. Two names appear across the foundation's own pages for the way it organises this work: a Rural Incubation Centre, which is the incubator itself, and Rural Entrepreneurship Development Centres sited at CSVTU-affiliated institutions. No individual development centre is named or located anywhere on the site, so treat that network as described rather than mapped.
How programmes work
The open funding route is the Ignition Grant under the i-TBI. It is grants-in-aid to turn an idea into a prototype or product with a path to commercialisation, and its guidelines were re-issued on 20 January 2026. The grant is for physical products: the guidelines exclude pure software development, e-commerce, service solutions and app-based solutions, and they exclude proposals that have already moved past prototype stage. A funded prototype has to be completable within 12 to 14 months. Permitted spending heads are set out in the guidelines and cover outsourced research, design engineering, consultancy, testing and expert cost, raw material and consumables, fabrication of a working model, patent filing, business travel and contingency, each of the last three capped as a share of the approved project cost. Rent, permanent facilities and repaying existing loans are not permitted.
Alongside the grant, CSVTU-FORTE runs training rather than cohorts. Selected startups go through an induction covering funding strategies, pitching, market research, intellectual property and branding before incubation begins. The foundation also runs internship programmes aimed at CSVTU's own graduates and diploma holders — one in organic composting and organic farming, one a 30-day certificate course in organic and natural farming delivered with the Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming in Nagpur, a unit of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Both internship pages carry application deadlines from 2023, so ask before assuming an intake is open. A millet cart scheme for women self-help groups, supported by REC Foundation, closed to applications on 21 March 2026.
Who can apply
For the Ignition Grant, an applicant can be an individual innovator with no company, or a co-founder of a startup. The 2026 guidelines require Indian citizenship with government proof, and for a startup applicant they require a company registered in India, controlling equity held by Indian citizens, and annual turnover within DPIIT's prescribed limits for every year since inception. Innovators are expected to have a technical background, and any intellectual property generated should sit with the innovator or the startup. Note that the website's i-TBI page states two extra rules the 2026 guidelines do not repeat — a minimum age of 18 and a startup no more than two years old — so confirm which version applies before you build your case around either.
General incubation is wider than the grant. The foundation's own incubation form lets you declare your legal status as a private limited company, an LLP, a sole proprietorship or not registered at all, and it accepts ventures anywhere from idea stage through proof of concept, prototype, product development, early adopters and paid clients. The home page invites entrepreneurs from across India. The internship programmes are narrower: the organic composting round was open to graduates and diploma holders of CSVTU who live permanently in Durg district and are not in full-time employment, and the farming certificate course was for CSVTU pass-outs with a limited number of seats for outside candidates.
Facilities
The incubator lists co-working space, a fabrication workshop, electrical and electronic smart system labs, computer labs with a server, an audio-visual studio, meeting rooms, a conference and seminar hall, a prototype exhibit room, incubatee space and a canteen. The i-TBI page describes the leased area as housing common facilities, a fab lab, a prototyping laboratory, meeting rooms, video conferencing, a computer lab and server room and co-working space with high-bandwidth internet.
Who runs it
The board of directors is chaired by Dr M K Verma, Vice Chancellor of CSVTU, with Dr R N Patel, a professor at CSVTU, and Mr Kailash Dhar Diwan, formerly Chairman cum Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Limited, as directors. Day-to-day work sits with the i-TBI executive team: a CEO, an incubation manager, an associate manager and an accounts lead. The governing body brings in MSME-DFO Raipur, NSTEDB at the Department of Science and Technology, the KIIT technology business incubator in Bhubaneswar, the RKVY-RAFTAAR agri-business incubator at IGKV Raipur, CII's Chhattisgarh state council, HDFC Bank and SECL.
CSVTU-FORTE names AICTE in New Delhi, the Sickle Cell Institute in Raipur, Rostock University in Germany, CSIR-AMPRI in Bhopal and the State Planning Commission of Chhattisgarh as partners. Insmart Systems in Hyderabad funded the campus organic farming pilot through its corporate social responsibility budget.
How to apply and where to find them
Applications for incubation go through the incubation form on csvtuforte.com, reached from the "Apply for Incubation" button on every page. It is a long form: pain points, offering, stage, customers, market validation, regulatory issues, competitors, revenue model, prior investment, a pitch deck and, if you are incorporated, your incorporation certificate and constitutional documents. Funding calls and notices are announced in the news ticker on the home page. Events the foundation has run include a Project Competition and Startup Expo, the Krishi Samvardhan Ideathon 1.0 and Launchpad 1.0. Staff vacancies at the i-TBI have been advertised as notices on the site rather than on a careers page — the careers link in the site's own menu does not resolve.
The office is at UTD Block-II, CSVTU Bhilai Campus, P.O. Newai, Bhilai, District Durg, Chhattisgarh 491107.
