Programmes they run

Standing programmes at Kalinga University, separate from the funding calls above.

Kalinga runs one standing incubation offer, not timed cohorts, and its published audience is the university's own students and faculty. The separate route an outside innovator can use is the Ministry of MSME's incubation scheme, where an idea is submitted through a listed Host Institute.

Standing incubation support at the Naya Raipur campus, described by the university as being for its own students and faculty.

Best for: Students and faculty of Kalinga University with an idea or early venture

  • Idea – Prototype
  • In person
What you get, who can apply and how to apply

Kalinga Incubation Foundation was set up in 2023 as a Section 8 not-for-profit company and is the university's incubation arm. It runs as a standing offer rather than in cohorts: there is no published intake window, no deadline and no cohort number. Its own page says its purpose is to promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship among students and faculty members of the university.

What you get

  • Incubation support and expert mentorship from the team and industry experts
  • A prototype development lab to plan, design, test and experiment
  • Co-working space on campus
  • Help pitching for funding, plus marketing, technology, legal and compliance support
  • Business plan development from idea stage through to launch
  • Workshops, pitch sessions, industrial visits, seminars and guest lectures

Who can apply

  • The stated audience is students and faculty of Kalinga University
  • Ventures across technology, healthcare, medicine, sustainable products and social impact
  • Nothing on the page states an incorporation requirement, a geography gate or a category gate
  • Nothing states that outside founders may apply, so confirm before applying

How selection works: Four stated criteria — whether the idea has been validated, the solution or product itself, scalability potential, and a strong and well-rounded team. No panel, stages or timeline are published.

How to apply: Download the startup registration form from the Kalinga Incubation Foundation page and fill in your startup name, contact details, city and state, and a short summary of the product or service. The page does not say where to send it and publishes no incubation inbox, so write to registrar@kalingauniversity.ac.in for the current route.

Full Kalinga Incubation Foundation guide

Labs & facilities

Equipment and space on campus.

Only two facilities are described for incubatees. The university's Centres of Excellence and Central Instrumentation Facility are teaching and research facilities for enrolled students, not part of the incubation offer.

Prototype development lab

Kalinga Incubation Foundation describes a lab where incubatees can plan, design, test and experiment with their ideas.

Co-working space

Campus workspace with Wi-Fi, described on the Kalinga Incubation Foundation page.

Support services

Help offered alongside funding and space.

Business advisory

Mentorship from the incubation team and industry experts, plus business plan development from idea stage to launch.

Legal & finance

Help with company registration and paperwork, listed on the incubation page alongside IP rights.

IP & patents

IP rights guidance is listed under the incubation page's legal and compliance offer; the Institution's Innovation Council also runs IPR sessions.

Market access

Branding and promotion guidance, and networking through industrial visits, seminars and guest lectures.

Recognitions & empanelments

Official approvals this incubator holds.

Nothing on Kalinga's site claims an Atal Incubation Centre, NIDHI, DST, MeitY or Startup India recognition. The site's Institution's Innovation Council page mentions ARIIA, which is the Atal Ranking of Institutions — a ranking exercise, not an incubation recognition.

Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)

Checked against the Ministry's own live Host Institute list on 24 September 2026: entry 204, "Kalinga University", Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The university's milestone timeline dates the recognition to 2024. Note the entity mismatch — the incubation page claims the recognition for Kalinga Incubation Foundation, while the ministry list names the university. The list gives no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it, and being listed is a capacity registration, not evidence that the institute has hosted an approved idea.

How to apply to Kalinga University

Check first whether you are eligible at all

Kalinga Incubation Foundation describes itself as serving students and faculty members of Kalinga University, and every founder it quotes is a Kalinga student. If you are an outside founder with no connection to the university, treat KIF's own incubation as unconfirmed for you rather than open, and ask before investing time in an application.

The MSME Host Institute route

Kalinga University is on the Ministry of MSME's published list of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme. That scheme works the other way round from a normal incubator application: you register as an incubatee on the ministry's own incubation portal and submit your idea through a Host Institute, which the ministry then approves. If you want Kalinga as your host, contact the university first and confirm they will sponsor your submission — the ministry list is a registration of capacity, not a promise that the institute is actively taking on ideas.

How applications work at KIF

There is no online application form and no portal. The KIF page offers a one-page startup registration form as a download, asking for the startup name, email, mobile number, state, city and a short summary of your product or service, with DPIIT number, website, stage and sectors optional. The page does not say where to return it. Since no incubation inbox is published, write to the university's registrar and ask for the current route and for the name of the KIF director.

What to have ready

KIF says it selects on four things: whether the idea has been validated, the solution or product itself, scalability potential, and the strength and balance of the team. So lead with evidence that you have tested the problem with real users, show the product or a prototype, be concrete about how the business grows beyond a first market, and make the team's coverage of the work obvious. It says it supports ventures across technology, healthcare, medicine, sustainable products and social impact.

Questions worth asking before you commit

The pages do not say whether incubation is free or charged, whether KIF takes equity, how long support lasts, or when the next intake is. None of that is published, so ask all four in your first email and get the answer in writing.

About Kalinga University

Kalinga University is a private university at Kotni, near Mantralaya, in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Its incubation work runs through Kalinga Incubation Foundation (KIF), a separate not-for-profit company set up in 2023 and registered as a Section 8 company with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The university is also listed by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as a Host Institute for the incubation part of the MSME Innovative Scheme.

Who can apply

This is the part to read first. On its own pages, Kalinga Incubation Foundation describes its purpose as promoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship among students and faculty members of the university. The university's own site repeats that framing, describing KIF as supporting students' innovative business ideas. Every founder quoted on the KIF page is a Kalinga student. There is no open call, no cohort, no intake window and no deadline published anywhere for outside founders.

The one route that does not depend on being a Kalinga student runs through the Ministry of MSME rather than through the university. Kalinga University appears on the ministry's published list of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, at Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Under that scheme the ministry approves ideas that incubatees submit through a Host Institute, so an innovator applying on the ministry's own portal can name Kalinga University as their host. That listing is a capacity registration. It carries no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is still current cannot be told from it, and being listed is not evidence that the institute has hosted an approved idea.

KIF publishes a one-page startup registration form as a download. It asks only for the startup name, an email, a mobile number, state, city and a summary of the product or service, with the DPIIT number, website, stage and sectors marked optional. Nothing on the form or the page says who may fill it in, and nothing says where to send it once filled.

How programmes work

KIF describes a single standing offer rather than timed cohorts. It lists nine things it provides: startup incubation, expert mentorship, a prototype development lab, funding support, co-working space, marketing assistance, technology support, legal and compliance help, and business plan development. It sets out an eight-step path a venture is expected to follow, from brainstorming an idea, through polishing a plan, building a business plan, developing the product, mentorship, testing, launch, and finally pitching to raise money. Alongside this it says it runs workshops, pitch sessions, industrial visits, seminars and guest lectures.

Its stated selection criteria are short: validation of a unique idea, the solution or product itself, scalability potential, and a strong, well-rounded team. There is no described panel, no stages and no timeline. The page does not say whether incubation is free or charged, and it does not say whether KIF takes equity.

Facilities

The two facilities KIF names are a prototype development lab, described as somewhere to plan, design, test and experiment, and a co-working space at the campus. The wider university separately advertises a Central Instrumentation Facility and a set of Centres of Excellence run with industry partners — an MSME training centre with IamSMEofIndia, an electric vehicles centre, an industrial IoT centre, a robotics and drone centre, and others. Those are teaching centres for enrolled students and are not part of the incubation offer.

Scale

KIF publishes no startup count, no cohort count and no funding figure. It names six ventures on its page: Siyaa Organics, Shree Sudarshan Drone, SQ7 Communications, Insight Catalyst India, Nyson AI Solutions and Master G Academy NIIRA Educom. A seventh, Graeon.ai, appears twice in the testimonials on the same page but is missing from that list. The large numbers on the university's About page — students enrolled, patents filed, research publications, MoUs signed — belong to the university, not to the incubator, and should not be read as an incubation track record.

Who runs it

The university's published leadership is Dr. Rajeev Kumar as Chairman, Dr. Sandeep Arora as Chancellor, Mr. Sajjan Singh as Pro-Chancellor, Dr. R. Shridhar as Vice-Chancellor and Dr. Sandeep Gandhi as Registrar. No director or staff member of Kalinga Incubation Foundation is named anywhere on the site; the Institution's Innovation Council committee table lists "Director KIF" as a role, without a name.

The university also hosts an Institution's Innovation Council, set up in 2018-19 under the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell with AICTE. The IIC is an internal council for students, researchers and faculty that runs ideathons, hackathons, IPR sessions and pre-incubation activities, and publishes its quarterly activity reports. It is not a route for outside founders either.

Locations and contact

Everything sits on the single Naya Raipur campus at Kotni, near Mantralaya, pincode 492101. The KIF page carries no incubation email or phone; the only institutional inbox on the site is the registrar's. The university publishes a careers page and a news and events page where its ideathons and entrepreneurship talks are listed.
