Recognitions & empanelments
Official approvals this incubator holds.
Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)
Listed at entry 27 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "National Institute of Technology Srinagar" (SRINAGAR, JAMMU AND KASHMIR), checked 24 September 2026. This is the status that lets an innovator name the institute as their Host Institute when applying on the ministry's own portal. The list gives no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it; and being listed is a capacity registration, not evidence that the institute has ever hosted an approved idea.

About National Institute of Technology Srinagar
National Institute of Technology Srinagar runs its innovation and entrepreneurship work through the Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneur Development Centre (IIEDC). The centre started its activities in May 2015 and replaced the institute's older EDP cell. It is based on the institute's campus at Hazratbal, on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar.
Who the centre supports
The centre's page describes its support as open to engineering students, technocrats, innovators and other stakeholders who want an engineering solution to a problem, with a focus on Jammu and Kashmir. Its pre-incubation and incubation support helps early ideas become start-ups, with mentoring and access to the institute's services.
Who can apply
The centre's page and the institute's 2020 startup policy describe the audience differently. The page says engineering students, technocrats, innovators and other stakeholders. The policy describes incubation for start-ups run by students, staff and faculty. Founders who are not connected to the institute should confirm eligibility with the centre before applying.
What support covers
Mentoring runs for three to six months, or for a period agreed between the mentor and the start-up. The institute's policy says incubation services may be provided in return for fees, for equity, or at zero payment, and that the institute may take a stake in supported companies, decided case by case. The policy also sets up an innovation fund for seed funding, decided case by case.
Focus areas
The centre's stated thrust areas include grass-root innovation, solutions for micro and small industrial problems, energy conservation, environmental protection, waste management and sanitation, and prototype development.
Who runs it
Prof Saad Parvez is listed as Head of the IIEDC, and Dr Noor Zaman Khan as Incubation Incharge. Student team leads run the centre's cells.
Current activity
The centre's page names one incubatee it is currently supporting, an alternative to conventional brick kilns, and lists Move Beyond, a career counselling social startup, as incubated by the centre. The centre's pages date largely from 2020 to 2024, so confirm the current intake before applying.
