A micro VC runs a small fund, so it can write smaller cheques than a traditional VC and often comes in earlier, at pre-seed or seed, when a company has a product in progress and little revenue. For many founders it is the first institutional money they raise, and the term sheet, the board expectations and the pace of follow-on investment all differ from a large fund.
Because the fund is small, a micro VC usually has to be selective about how many companies it backs, and it may not have the capacity to lead or follow on in later rounds. Ask how it plans to support the company after the first cheque, and whether it expects you to find a larger fund for the next round on your own.
The micro VCs in Bengaluru listed above differ on sector focus and on how hands-on they are. Some are generalist and quick, some are specialist and slower, and some run a programme alongside the fund. Match on the stage and sector in each profile, and speak to founders they have backed before you commit.
We list 23 micro VCs in Bengaluru, out of 288 startup support organisations we list there. The count updates as profiles are added and verified.
Start from the profile of each one: confirm it backs your stage and sector, find how it takes pitches (an online form, a named contact or a warm introduction), and send a short note with what you build, who it is for and what you have achieved so far. A focused note to a few good-fit investors does more than a mass mail to all of them.
A micro VC runs a smaller fund and tends to invest earlier, in smaller amounts, in more companies. A larger VC firm usually invests in fewer companies, at higher amounts and later stages. The boundary is not fixed, so check each fund's own description.
