About Alliance University

Alliance University is a private university on the Chandapura-Anekal Main Road in Anekal, Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was established in 2010 under Karnataka Act No 34 and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Its start-up support runs through the Alliance University Technology Business Incubator (AU-TBI), alongside an intellectual property cell and an innovation council.

What the incubator does

AU-TBI was set up to nurture innovation, promote entrepreneurship and grow technology-driven start-ups. The university describes support across the whole start-up lifecycle, from early ideation and prototyping to commercialisation and scale. Its stated technology focus areas are Geoinformatics, EdTech, MedTech, AgriTech, FinTech, Smart Mobility, Smart Manufacturing, Biotechnology, Green Energy and Sustainability, Semiconductors, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Who can apply

The incubator says it supports students, faculty members, researchers and external innovators. The page does not set out selection criteria, an intake calendar or terms for founders from outside the university, so ask the team before you plan around a place.

Facilities and support

Start-ups can use on-campus co-working and dedicated office space, furnished workstations with high-speed internet, and meeting rooms. Accommodation on campus is available for entrepreneurs, subject to availability. Access to university laboratories covers engineering, computing and biotechnology. Prototyping support includes maker spaces, 3D printers, CNC machines, electronics labs and prototyping studios. Mentoring comes from a network of academic, industry and investor mentors, with help on intellectual property identification, filing, technology transfer and licensing.

Funding routes

The incubator names seed funding pathways through university funds, CSR partners and government schemes, including the NIDHI programme's EIR, PRAYAS and TBI routes, the MSME Fund and Startup India grants. It also lists investor connects, credit linkages and mentorship after incubation. These are routes the team helps founders reach. The page does not say what each start-up receives.

Research and innovation

The university runs a research centre and a set of Centres of Excellence, including Robotics, Cyber Security, Additive Manufacturing, and Public Policy, Sustainability and ESG Research. Sponsored research and consultancy projects run alongside. The intellectual property cell supports students, faculty, researchers and start-ups in identifying, protecting and commercialising their intellectual property.

Scale

The incubator publishes a list of its pre-incubatees, but the pages give no count of start-ups supported. Its stated aim of 5 to 10 start-ups a year is a goal, not a result.
