The RKVY-RAFTAAR Agri-Business Incubator, or R-ABI, at the College of Fisheries in Lembucherra, Tripura, is an agri-business incubator run by a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, whose headquarters are in Imphal, Manipur. Its page says it was established in March 2019 under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. Do not confuse it with the university's main campus in Imphal: the incubator's address is Lembucherra, Tripura 799210.

The incubator says it supports agribusiness incubation by taking innovations and technologies to venture creation in agriculture and allied sectors, to promote agripreneurship and startups. Its listed focus areas are fisheries and aquaculture, post-harvest technology, agri and aqua inputs, warehouse management, ICT in agriculture, farmer services and aqua clinics, dairy, farm mechanization, supply chain management, nutrition and health, and animal husbandry. Its stated mission is to motivate young farmers and students to create enterprises with innovative ideas.

How the programme works

The incubator describes four stages. It starts with a 1-month Agripreneurship Orientation, which combines training with a hands-on internship and a stipend. Completing it makes a participant eligible for idea and pre-seed funding. The Idea and Pre-Seed stage gives a subsistence grant to turn an innovative idea into a prototype or product. The Seed stage is for incubates that already have an MVP and need funding for product launch, scaling and market readiness. A separate Student Innovation Program gives financial and technical aid to students, with a limit of 4 students a year.

Who can apply

The page does not publish eligibility criteria, an incorporation requirement or a residency rule. Its mission names young farmers and students, and the Student Innovation Program is for students. Whether people outside the college can apply to each stage is not stated, so ask the incubator before you plan around it.

Support beyond funding

Among its objectives the incubator lists moving new technologies and varieties from the lab to the land through agri-startups, helping agripreneurs with legal, financial, IP and compliance services, and building a startup ecosystem that links academia, finance and industry. It also lists creating rural employment for youth in agriculture.

It also shows a counter of incubated ventures made of three unlabelled numbers, 167, 53 and 9, with no date or explanation, so we do not quote a total. It points to a separate college website for the forms, and that address did not load when we checked on 14 October 2026. The page names a project lead, the PI-CEO and Head of Department, and lists contact numbers and email addresses, but only personal-looking mail accounts, so we do not republish them.
