How to apply to Electropreneur Park
Start by choosing the right route
- Student or first-time founder with an idea that needs a prototype: pre-incubation at EP in Delhi. If you study at a partner campus, ask whether it is a Spoke Centre, because that route is picked through a challenge held there.
- Prototype built, product validated or first sales made: the Incubation Program.
- Advanced product, based outside Delhi: the Virtual Incubation Program, which keeps one seat at EP for your visits.
All three are entered through the same Open Challenge Program call. You do not apply to each one separately.
How applications work
- Register on Sayuj, STPI's startup community network. Registration is free.
- Open the Electropreneur Park call and submit your proposal.
- EP's own site gives the 2026 window as 7 September to 20 October. Check it there, because STPI's page for the call has a different title and no dates.
- A separate Open Challenge Program 3.0 run in 2021 by STPI's IoT OpenLab in Bengaluru has nothing to do with EP. Make sure you are on the Electropreneur Park call.
How selection works
A Startup Selection Evaluation Committee runs pre-screening, then screening, then onboarding. EP calls it a rigorous multi-tier process, and the committee's decision is final. For Spoke Centre pre-incubation, an EP selection committee judges ideas on techno-commercial feasibility at a challenge or hackathon held on the campus.
What reviewers look for
- A product in electronics system design and manufacturing, or in cognitive computing and social sensing. The call lists medtech, edutech, automotive electronics, strategic electronics, electric vehicles, defence and drones.
- A stage that matches the route. Say clearly whether you have a validated proof of concept, a prototype awaiting testing, a validated product that needs a business around it, or early revenue that needs support to scale.
- A registered entity, or a plan to register within three months of selection. Check the age and turnover conditions in the call before you apply.
- Real innovation with a path to jobs or wealth creation, which the call names as the test for a good fit.
Before you accept
- Ask what equity percentage applies to incubation or virtual incubation. EP's site states that incubation takes equity but does not publish the percentage.
- Ask whether any seed funding is available for your case. EP's own text describes help with raising funds, while STPI's listing mentions seed fund support.
About Electropreneur Park
Electropreneur Park (EP) is an incubator for electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) startups in New Delhi. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), implemented and administered by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), and it works from the IIIT Delhi campus in Okhla. Its current five-year phase is called Electropreneur Park 2.0, or the EP 2.0 Centre of Entrepreneurship.
How the programmes work
Startups reach EP through its Open Challenge Program, a call that is run on Sayuj, STPI's startup community network. EP's own site names the current call Open Challenge Program 3.0 and gives an application window from 7 September to 20 October 2026. STPI's page for the call carries the title Open Challenge Program 2.0 and gives no dates, so check the dates on EP's site before you plan around them. Registering on Sayuj is free. A Startup Selection Evaluation Committee handles pre-screening, screening and onboarding, and its decision is final.
Selected teams are placed in one of three routes. Pre-incubation at EP in Delhi is meant for students, budding entrepreneurs and early teams that need to build a working prototype. It usually lasts about three months and can be extended by another three, and lab access and mentorship are free of charge. The Incubation Program is for startups that already have a prototype, a validated product or first revenue. It starts with one year and can be extended twice, by six months each time, if the startup shows progress. The Virtual Incubation Program is for startups at an advanced stage of product development that are based away from Delhi. It runs for 12 months, gives all the benefits of incubation, and keeps one seat at EP for the periodic visits that founders make to use the labs.
EP also runs pre-incubation inside partner campuses, which it calls Spoke Centres. Ideas are picked through a challenge or hackathon held at the Spoke Centre, and the selection is made by an EP committee. This route lasts one year and takes no equity. It is open only to students and budding entrepreneurs of the partner campus, and EP says it wants more than ten Spoke Centres across Delhi and the northern region.
Who can apply
The call is for startups with an innovative idea or solution in electronics system design and manufacturing, or in cognitive computing and social sensing. The problem areas it lists are medtech, edutech, automotive electronics, strategic electronics, electric vehicles, defence, drones and others. EP's site says it invites ESDM startups from across India, so there is no Delhi-only or campus-only condition on the main call.
The call accepts students and budding entrepreneurs who are still at the ideation stage and need prototype support, early or pre-revenue startups, startups at prototype stage, and startups with breakthrough technology. The entity rules are specific. The applicant should be a private limited company, a registered partnership firm or an LLP, incorporated not more than ten years ago. Annual turnover must stay under a ceiling set in the call. The business must not have been formed by splitting up or reconstructing an existing business, and it should be working on an innovation that can create jobs or wealth. A team that is not yet registered may apply in the founders' names, but it must register within three months of selection.
Facilities and support
For physical incubation, EP lists furnished office space, ESDM laboratories, 3D modelling and 3D printing, and prototyping support. Startups can draw on a mentor pool of forty plus members from academia, industry, government and other institutions. EP's site also says it guides startups in raising funds through grants, equity and debt, which means help in finding funding rather than a cheque from EP itself. STPI's listing of offerings mentions seed fund support as well, and EP's own programme text does not describe one, so ask EP what applies to your case. Startups can also reach experts and faculty at IIIT Delhi.
Equity and cost
Incubation at EP takes equity, and EP does not publish the percentage. Virtual incubation takes half the equity that the physical incubation programme takes. Pre-incubation at a Spoke Centre takes none. EP's site states the equity position but gives no incubation fee, so the terms of an offer are worth asking about before you accept.
Working with MSMEs
EP describes two routes that connect its startups with small and medium manufacturers. In the acceleration route, MSMEs come to EP for ESDM solutions designed for their problems and sign technology transfer agreements. In the Launch Pad route, EP shows its startups to MSMEs that may take equity or make other investments. Neither route has a public application, so treat them as ways EP's own startups can find customers and investors, not as a way in.
Scale
STPI's page, dated 3 December 2025, reports 59 startups supported, 183 prototypes developed, 129 products created and 66 patents or IPR filings. These are EP's own figures and the page does not say as of when they were counted. The same page also reports cumulative revenue and investment received by its startups, which are shown as self-reported on this page. EP says its first financial exit was UnivLabs, in October 2023.
Who runs it
MeitY funds EP and STPI administers it. EP started in August 2016, and a 2022 IIIT Delhi release says it was launched at the University of Delhi South Campus. In 2022 IIIT Delhi signed an agreement with STPI, STPI NEXT, the Technology Innovation Hub at IIIT Delhi (IHub Anubhuti) and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) to set up EP on its own campus. The ministry has approved the second phase, Electropreneur Park 2.0, for five years.
