About this grant
The "Artisan Promotion" scheme, spearheaded by the Delhi Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities, and Safai Karamchari Finance and Development Corporation (DSFDC), a Government of Delhi undertaking, aims to uplift and empower artisans. The core objective is to provide these skilled individuals with invaluable opportunities to showcase their traditional and contemporary talents on a national stage. By facilitating participation in prominent national fairs and exhibitions such as Shilpotsav, IITF, East Himalaya Expo, and the International Surajkund Mela, the scheme seeks to enhance their exposure, recognition, and ultimately, their financial independence.
The program offers crucial financial support designed to alleviate the burden of participation costs. This includes covering participation fees, providing assistance for lodging and boarding, and offering daily stipends. Through these provisions, artisans can focus on their craft and presentation without undue financial stress. The scheme is executed by the DSFDC, often in collaboration with various National Apex Corporations that organize these large-scale events, ensuring broader reach and impact for the artisan community. It represents a vital initiative for fostering entrepreneurship and cultural preservation among underserved segments of society.
