National Health Authority (NHA)

The National Health Authority (NHA) is an autonomous government body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, established in 2018. Originally created to implement Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), the world's largest publicly funded health assurance scheme, NHA is now also responsible for driving India's digital health vision through the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

NHA has opened APIs, sandboxes, and developer platforms enabling startups to build applications that integrate with national health systems. The Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) offers financial incentives for integrating digital health records and services. NHA also conducts national innovation challenges and hackathons, such as the AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon, inviting startups and developers to solve complex problems in public healthcare at scale.
