NewGen IEDC (New Generation Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre) is a programme launched by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, and implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad.
The programme establishes innovation and entrepreneurship centres in academic institutions where students are encouraged to take up innovative projects with commercialisation potential. NSTEDB has supported 26 academic institutions across 13 states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Key activities include business plan competitions, innovation camps, hackathons with active involvement of industry and alumni, and structured mentorship schemes for student innovators. The programme provides guidance, funding for innovation activities, and support for converting student projects into viable startup ventures.
Science and technology students in participating academic institutions across 13 Indian states who have innovative project ideas with commercial potential and need mentorship, competition platforms, and structured entrepreneurship development support to launch startups.
