Government of Andhra Pradesh Initiative

About Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH)

The Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) is an incubation and entrepreneurship initiative established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to drive innovation and support startups and MSMEs. Inaugurated on August 20, 2025, at Mayuri Tech Park in Mangalagiri, the central hub in Amaravati spans 50,000 square feet and is connected to five regional spoke centres in Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Tirupati, and Anantapur. The initiative aims to support 20,000 startups and create over 100,000 direct jobs within five years.

Role in the Startup Ecosystem

RTIH represents one of India's most ambitious state-level startup infrastructure projects. Its hub-and-spoke model distributes incubation support across six cities in Andhra Pradesh, bringing startup infrastructure to smaller cities like Rajahmundry and Anantapur that typically lack institutional incubation support. Backed by partnerships with Tata Group, L&T, AM/NS India, JSW Group, Adani Group, MEIL, Greenko Group, and GMR Group, the hub combines government initiative with substantial private sector commitment.

Programs and Initiatives

RTIH runs multiple programs for startups at different stages. The Future Founders Program is a six-week pre-incubation program that helps innovators turn ideas into prototypes and reach their first customers. The RTIH Catalyst Incubation Program is a structured growth initiative for early-stage startups with validated prototypes or proof of concepts, offering selected startups funding support of up to Rs 30 lakhs. The SPARK programme is a five-day intensive designed to nurture innovation among aspiring entrepreneurs. RTIH focuses on deep-tech, electric mobility, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, green energy, advanced manufacturing, quantum computing, and climate technology.

Who Benefits

Startups and aspiring entrepreneurs based in Andhra Pradesh across technology sectors benefit most, particularly those at the ideation and validation stages. The hub-and-spoke model makes it relevant for founders in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across the state. MSMEs looking to adopt technology and innovate their operations also find support through RTIH's programs.

Strategic Impact

RTIH is a centrepiece of Andhra Pradesh's strategy to build a technology-driven economy. By combining government backing with partnerships from India's largest industrial groups, the hub creates a powerful support system for startup creation at scale. Its distributed model across six cities tests whether quality incubation can be delivered beyond state capitals, with implications for startup policy across India.
