The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) is the campus cell at SRKR Engineering College that supports student and faculty entrepreneurs. It is based at the college in Bhimavaram, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, and works alongside the college's Technology Centre, its innovation hub, an MSME Business Incubator, the AICTE IDEA Lab and the Institution's Innovation Council.

How the cell works

The cell describes an end-to-end path from idea to commercialisation. It runs ideation workshops, design thinking and prototyping, then prototype validation, with the aim of turning an innovation into a startup. Its mentoring draws on faculty mentors, alumni founders and external industry experts. It also points founders to MSME schemes, AICTE seed grants and angel and venture investor sessions.

Who can apply

The cell's stated audience is the college's own students and faculty. The site does not say whether founders from outside the college can join its pre-incubation work, so ask the cell before planning around it.

Hackathons and challenges

The cell runs bootcamps, hackathons and faculty development programmes through the year. These include an internal round of the Smart India Hackathon, which the page says draws more than 150 students a year, and the KAVACH cyber security hackathon. Its page also lists the MSME Idea Hackathon, where one entry was selected for funding.

Recognition the college reports

The cell's page reports a grant for an Atal Community Innovation Centre in 2023, an ARIIA 2023 ranking in the 151-300 band, and an ARIIA 2022 Best Performer result. It also reports a 3-star rating under the Innovation Council's 4.0 cycle.
