Vibe-a-thon is a national-level intercollege hackathon meticulously designed for engineering students across India. Organized by Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), Yelahanka, the primary goal of this event is to encourage participants to leverage various AI tools to develop innovative solutions. The competition emphasizes creative ideas and effective problem-solving over strict syntax, providing a platform for students to work on real-world challenges and develop impactful projects using their technical and creative skills.
Who Should Apply
This hackathon is exclusively open to students currently pursuing an engineering degree. Teams must consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 members. Cross-college teams are explicitly allowed, fostering collaboration across institutions.
Tracks / Themes
Participants are required to build projects aligned with one of the following tracks. While a project may relate to multiple areas, one must be selected as the primary category:
- Healthcare and MedTech: Innovations for medical diagnostics, patient care, and health management.
- FinTech and Financial Inclusion: Solutions for banking, investment, digital payments, and expanding financial access.
- Sustainability and Climate Tech: Projects addressing environmental challenges, renewable energy, and sustainable practices.
- AI and Automation: Applications of artificial intelligence and automation across various industries.
- Open Innovation: Solutions for any pressing problem not covered by the other tracks.
Format & Timeline
The hackathon consists of three rounds: an initial online qualifying Round 0, followed by offline Rounds 1 and 2 (Final). Teams can only proceed to the next round after successfully qualifying in the previous one. The inauguration is scheduled for April 25th, 2026, from 01:00 PM – 02:30 PM IST. Participants must report to the venue at least 20 minutes before the scheduled time for offline rounds and are required to bring their own laptops and necessary peripherals, as no equipment will be provided by the organizers.
Prizes
A total cash prize pool of ₹1,30,000 is distributed among the winners. This includes prizes for the top three overall teams, as well as specific track prizes for outstanding projects in each category.
Eligibility
Open only to students currently pursuing an engineering degree. Each team must consist of 2 to 4 members. Cross-college teams are permitted.
How to Apply
The registration fee is ₹250 per team, which is applicable after qualifying Round 0. The final registration deadline for the competition is May 2nd, 2026.
