The Global Design Thinking Alliance (GDTA) Hackathon 2026, organized by SNS Institutions, Coimbatore, is an innovation-focused online platform designed to empower participants to address real-world
challenges through a structured, user-centered approach. This hackathon encourages moving beyond conventional methods to develop solutions rooted in human needs, empathy, and practical impact. By integrating design thinking principles with technology, participants will transform ideas into effective solutions, promoting creative problem-solving and critical thinking to drive meaningful progress across organizations, communities, and society. Who Should Apply This hackathon is open to students, professionals, and innovators globally who are 18 years or older. Multidisciplinary participation is highly encouraged, allowing for diverse perspectives and skill sets within teams. Participants can join individually or form teams of 2 to 4 members. Cross-institutional teams are also permitted. Tracks / Themes Participants are invited to innovate within three critical themes: Education Transformation: Reimagining learning for a digital, inclusive future. Healthcare Innovation: Developing accessible, intelligent, and patient-centric care solutions. Smart City & Infrastructure: Creating sustainable, connected, and smart urban living environments. Format & Timeline The GDTA Hackathon is conducted entirely online and follows the Design Thinking methodology: Empathize → Define → Ideate → Prototype → Test. All solutions must be user-centric and aligned with the chosen problem statement. The event structure includes several phases: Phase 1: Idea Submission (Closes by 2026-06-30) - Submit problem statement, solution, and impact. Top 90 teams will be shortlisted. Phase 2: Prototype Development (Starts 2026-07-16, Submission Last date 2026-08-30) - Develop a working prototype/MVP and prepare a pitch presentation. Industry mentors will guide teams during this phase. Final Pitching (Starts 2026-09-01) - Final evaluation by the jury. Winners Announcement (2026-09-29) Prizes Awards and recognition will be given to the top 3 teams from each theme. Winners will receive an invitation to the GDTA D-Conference 2026. All participants will receive certificates. Eligibility Open to students, professionals, and innovators worldwide, aged 18 years or older. Teams can consist of 1 to 4 members. Registration is free and mandatory. How to Apply Registration for the hackathon is free and mandatory, closing by June 20, 2026.
