About the Congress
The 4th International Congress for Sickle Cell and Inherited Blood Disorders is a global gathering of clinicians, researchers, patient advocates, policymakers, and industry stakeholders working to advance research, therapies, and comprehensive care in inherited blood disorders. Hosted by GANSID (Global Action Network for Sickle Cell & Other Inherited Blood Disorders), the congress brings together the international community around one of the world's most common - yet historically underfunded - genetic disease groups.
Who It's For
What to Expect
Context
GANSID is a global umbrella network uniting sickle cell and inherited blood disorder organisations across continents, with a strong presence in Africa and South Asia. India carries a substantial sickle cell disease burden, and the Government of India's National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission has made this a live public-health priority - making Hyderabad a fitting host city for the 4th edition. The congress is designed to bridge research, policy, and patient care, and to accelerate the translation of scientific advances into accessible treatment in low- and middle-income settings.
Format and Access
The event runs across three days as an in-person congress in Hyderabad. Registration is free, making it accessible to students, early-career researchers, and patient advocates alongside established professionals. Attendees can expect a mix of keynote lectures, panel discussions, abstract presentations, and structured networking.
Why It Matters for the Ecosystem
For founders and investors in biotech, genomics, diagnostics, and health-tech, the congress offers direct exposure to the clinical and policy stakeholders driving adoption of new therapies in India and globally - a rare concentration of domain expertise in one venue.
