BizBoss – Business & Management Challenge is a solo managerial talent competition conducted as part of Datakon'26 by the Department of Data Science and Business Systems at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, Chennai.

The event is designed to test business thinking, communication, leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and the ability to perform under pressure across three competitive rounds.

Eligibility

Open to students from any college.
Participants may belong to any specialisation or department.
Students from any year of study can participate.
Individual / solo participation only.
Registration is free of charge.
A valid college ID card is mandatory.
Formal attire is required.
Only English is permitted throughout the event.

Event Structure

Round 1 – Impromptu Ventures Participants receive a business scenario or problem on the spot and must present their idea or solution to the judges within 5 minutes. There is no advance preparation. Evaluation is based on thinking, confidence, and the ability to communicate under pressure. Notes and mobile phones are not allowed.

Round 2 – The Open Floor Participants are randomly divided into two teams and given a debate topic announced on the spot. One team argues in favour and the other against. Total debate duration is approximately 30 minutes, with each speaking turn capped at 2 minutes. Every participant must speak at least once, and may speak more than once. Individual performance is judged rather than which team wins.

Round 3 – The Interview Participants attend an individual face-to-face interview with the judges lasting approximately 5 minutes. Questions may cover personal introduction, goals and ambitions, business, leadership, entrepreneurship, ideas, and decision-making. Confident and honest communication is expected.

General Rules

Report to the venue 15 minutes before the event begins; late arrivals will not be accommodated.
Mobile phones are strictly prohibited during all rounds.
Any malpractice or misconduct results in immediate disqualification.
Participants must maintain proper respect and decorum towards judges, coordinators, and fellow participants.
Organisers may change the format if required, with participants informed before the round.
Decisions of the judges and coordinators are final and binding.
