The North East Growth Lab (NEGL) program, presented by IIMA Ventures in collaboration with SAP, is a comprehensive initiative designed to catalyze innovation and entrepreneurship across the eight North Eastern states of India: Sikkim, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Manipur. This program is dedicated to empowering early-stage startups by providing crucial financial grants, invaluable technical assistance, and holistic business support tailored to help them scale effectively and address the unique challenges prevalent in the region.
The core objectives of the NEGL program are multi-faceted. Firstly, it aims to empower startups by offering both financial and strategic support to promising early-stage ventures. Secondly, it seeks to foster innovation, encouraging groundbreaking solutions in vital sectors such as agriculture, climate tech, clean tech, health tech, sustainable tourism, fintech, edtech, and traditional crafts and livelihoods. Thirdly, the program focuses on building the capacity of these startups through expert mentoring, rigorous financial reviews, and robust business development support, all designed to ensure their sustainable growth. Furthermore, NEGL is committed to enabling critical market linkages, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs from the North East to connect with broader markets, businesses, and corporates. Ultimately, this initiative contributes significantly to regional development by strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in North Eastern India, thereby generating new opportunities for local talent and businesses.

चयन प्रक्रिया
The selection process for the North East Growth Lab program is rigorous and designed to identify high-potential early-stage startups. Initially, applications undergo a comprehensive screening to ensure all eligibility criteria, including incorporation details, DPIIT registration, and operational focus in the North East, are met. Following this, a detailed evaluation is conducted by a panel of experts from IIMA Ventures and SAP, assessing the founding team's strength, the innovation of the solution, sector alignment, and scalability potential. The top 25 shortlisted startups will be invited to participate in a 3-day intensive bootcamp in Guwahati. From these, 10-12 final startups will be selected for catalytic grants and extended support, based on their performance and potential demonstrated during the bootcamp and final assessment.

Can I submit more than one application for this program?
We highly recommend focusing on your strongest innovation and submitting only one application. Duplicate applications for the same innovation, especially those with less detail or poorly articulated thoughts, may not be considered.
Can I apply if I am not from India?
This program specifically targets startups registered in India, with their founders and operations primarily based within India. While international work is commendable, this particular program's scope is domestic.
My startup has received grants / awards / equity investments, can I still apply to this program?
Yes, you are eligible to apply regardless of whether your startup has previously received grants, awards, or raised equity funding. The program welcomes ventures at various stages of prior funding.
On what parameters are you going to evaluate my application?
Applications will be evaluated based on the strength of the founding team, the uniqueness and innovation of the solution, alignment with the program's target sectors, and the business's potential for scalability. Mandatory requirements include DPIIT registration, a Company PAN Card, a Company Bank Account, and registration as an LLP or Private Limited company.
Can I apply if my startup is not registered in the 8 mentioned North Eastern states of India?
Your startup can be registered in any geography across India. However, it is essential that your operations are based in the North East region and that the impact of your work is primarily created within the North East.
