KTBI was set up in 2015 out of an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre backed by DST's National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board. It gives space, labs, mentoring and internal funding to ventures coming out of the university, and names 17 companies as incubated.
Who can apply
- Faculty members and students of KARE. The university's start-up policy, which sets out incubation support, equity and intellectual property, is written for them and drafted in line with MHRD's National Innovation and Start-up Policy 2019 for Students and Faculty.
- Founders with no connection to the university have no published route. The mentors section mentions external startups and the MSME funding sentence mentions start-ups and SMEs, but neither states criteria, a window or a way to apply.

TEDP focuses on the training needs of science and technology entrepreneurs in a single technology area — the page gives leather, plastics, electronics and communication, instrumentation, biotechnology, computer hardware, food processing, bio-medical equipment, glass and ceramics, sustainable building materials and herbal processing as examples. Participants get hands-on training in indigenous technologies developed by research institutions and available to commercialise. It is run with support channelled through the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad.

The lab, named the Innovation and Prototyping Lab, was set up under AICTE's national IDEA Lab scheme to strengthen the practical application of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It holds 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines and other design, fabrication and analysis tools, and runs around the clock on campus.
Who can apply: the university's own students and faculty. The lab says all stakeholders are encouraged to use the space; no route in is stated for anyone outside the campus.

Grew out of a DST-NSTEDB Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)· 2015
KTBI states it began as an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre supported by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board of the Department of Science and Technology, and names DST's IEDC and NIDHI lines among its funding. Every dated DST fact on the page is from 2017 to 2019 and no funding period is published, so whether the support is current cannot be told. KTBI appears in none of DST's five NIDHI incubator registers — the combined TBI and NIDHI-TBI list, the i-TBI list, the Centres of Excellence list, the Seed Support list and the Accelerator list — checked on 25 September 2026, so it holds no NIDHI technology business incubator designation.
Recognised incubator, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises
KTBI states on its own page that it is recognised by the Ministry of MSME under the scheme "Support for Entrepreneurial and Managerial Development of MSME's through Incubator", and repeats it twice more, once as "Approved as Business Incubation from Ministry of MSME". The university is also listed as a Host Institute on the Ministry's published list for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, checked 24 September 2026; that list was unreachable on 25 September 2026. The recognition is dated only as "recently" and no period or status is published, so whether it is current cannot be told.
