Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI) is an initiative of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), established in March 2010 with funding from the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. It is one of 54 TBIs funded by NSTEDB to promote innovation-driven startups.
MUTBI's thrust areas include IT in healthcare, agriculture, renewable energy and energy conservation systems, and MEMS/nanotechnology. The incubator provides support and mentoring during the first three critical years of a startup's life, along with co-working facilities at the Advanced Research Center on the MAHE campus, networking opportunities, and assistance in arranging funds from various agencies. MUTBI also facilitates marketing, financial, and legal services for its incubatees. Notable alumni include Blackfrog Technologies, which developed Emvolio, a WHO-prequalified medical-grade vaccine carrier.
