Track record
What OPJU Innovation Center reports about its portfolio.
These are the Center's own counters and are not dated: twenty startups incubated, four hundred ideas, a hundred and fifty prototypes and five thousand students engaged. It also reports sixty-six innovations nominated for the AICTE Productization Fellowship, twenty for the YUKTI grant and forty for the MSME hackathon.
All figures self-reported — innovation.opju.ac.in, as of Sept 2026.
Programmes they run
Standing programmes at OPJU Innovation Center, separate from the funding calls above.
Only the first of these is the Center's own. The other two are national schemes it nominates into, so the decision on who gets support is made elsewhere. A fourth programme, NIF 4.0, is listed on its site but marked as coming soon with no way to register, and the AICTE Productization Fellowship it also supports is described as being for students in higher education.
Incubation at the OPJU Innovation Center
IncubationRolling incubation on the OPJU campus, with mentoring, help with incorporation, investor introductions and a demo day.
Best for: Founders with a product or idea who can work on the Raigarh campus
- Idea – Early revenue
- In person
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
The Center takes registrations at any time rather than running dated cohorts. Its published path has eight steps and runs from raw idea to a market-ready company.
What you get
- Technical and business bootcamps to build both the engineering and the commercial side.
- One-to-one mentoring from industry people and experienced founders.
- Help with company incorporation, intellectual property and compliance.
- Introductions to investors, and funding guidance.
- Help building a core team and finding co-founders.
- Branding and go-to-market work.
- Introductions to partners, potential customers and industry peers.
- A demo day where you pitch the finished product to investors and media.
- Co-working space, labs and prototyping equipment on campus.
Who can apply
- The Center's About page says it supports students, alumni, and others within and outside the university.
- Its FAQ describes it instead as the university's incubator for startups within OPJU. The two do not agree, so check before you apply if you have no link to the university.
- The registration form asks nothing about university affiliation.
- It does ask for a DPIIT number and a company address, so an incorporated company is the expected shape.
How selection works: not described beyond the Center saying that selected startups then receive structured support, training, funding guidance and incubation services.
How to apply: use the "Register Now" button on the Center's home page, or write to innovation@opju.ac.in.
MSME Idea Hackathon nominations
CompetitionThe Center runs an internal hackathon and forwards shortlisted ideas into the Ministry of MSME's national Idea Hackathon.
Best for: Innovators with an idea ready to be judged in a national hackathon
- Idea – Prototype
- Grant support for selected startups
With Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
O.P. Jindal University is on the Ministry of MSME's published list of host institutes for the incubation part of the MSME Innovative Scheme. That status is what lets an innovator name it as their host institute when applying on the ministry's own portal, and the Center is the body that does the shortlisting.
What you get
- A route into the national hackathon, with grant support for ideas that are selected there.
- Mentorship through the internal round.
Who can apply
- Not stated by the Center. The internal round it describes is run on campus.
How selection works: the Center holds a two-day internal hackathon and forwards the shortlist. In one recent round it evaluated 103 ideas and put 40 forward.
How to apply: the Center publishes no link for this one. Ask on innovation@opju.ac.in when the next internal round runs.
YUKTI Innovation Challenge
CompetitionA Ministry of Education challenge the Center nominates its innovations into; you apply on the national portal.
Best for: Innovators attached to a higher education institution
- Idea – Prototype
- Grant support for selected startups
With Ministry of Education
What you get, who can apply and how to applyHide details
YUKTI is the Ministry of Education's national innovation repository. It collects innovations from academic institutions across India and supports them with mentoring, funding and links into the wider ecosystem. The Center is a nominating institution, not the awarding body.
What you get
- Support through design thinking, prototype development, market research and pitch preparation, which is how the Center describes the work it puts nominees through.
Who can apply
- Innovators at academic institutions. The Center does not state its own filter.
How to apply: through the national YUKTI portal. The Center reports twenty innovations nominated for the YUKTI grant so far.
Incubation tracks
The routes into OPJU Innovation Center, and what each one includes.
There is one incubation path and it takes registrations at any time. The Center publishes no duration, no fee position and no equity position, so ask about all three.

|---|---|---|---|
| IncubationRolling registration, no published intake dates and no stated duration. The Center does not say whether incubation is charged for or whether it takes equity. | Resident incubation | — | Technical and business bootcamps, Mentorship and consultation, Help with incorporation, IP and compliance, Investor introductions and funding guidance, Hiring and co-founder search, Marketing and branding, Partner and customer introductions, Demo day |

Co-working space
The Center lists co-working spaces alongside labs, prototyping facilities and equipment access.
Prototyping workshop
A CNC router with planetary gearbox and heavy gantry, a 16K resin 3D printer, an industrial FDM printer for large functional parts, a sublimation workspace with badge maker for custom merchandise, and a motorised sewing machine.

Recognitions & empanelments
Official approvals this incubator holds.
This is a registration held by the university, O.P. Jindal University, rather than by the Innovation Center as a separate company. The Center itself claims no incubation recognition anywhere on its site.
Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)
Held in the university's name. O.P. Jindal University, Raigarh appears at entry 189 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "O.P Jindal University, Raigarh" (RAIGARH, CHHATTISGARH), checked 24 September 2026. This is the status that lets an innovator name the institute as their host institute when applying on the ministry's own portal, and the Innovation Center is the body that runs the internal shortlisting. The list gives no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it; and being listed is a capacity registration, not evidence that an approved idea has been hosted. The Innovation Center's own pages make no recognition claim of any kind.
How to apply to OPJU Innovation Center
Start by checking you are eligible
The Center never states an eligibility rule, and its own pages describe its reach differently in two places. One page says it mentors students, alumni and others from outside the university; another describes it as the incubator for startups within the university. The registration form contains no question about university affiliation, which suggests outside founders are welcome.
If you have no connection to OPJU, email or call the Center before you put work into a registration. Ask three things: whether outside founders are taken, whether incubation is charged for, and whether the Center takes equity. None of those is answered anywhere on the site, and all three change whether it is worth your time.
How to register
- Use the "Register Now" button on the Center's home page. It opens its own short registration form.
- Have ready: your project or startup name, your DPIIT recognition number if you have one, founder name, a WhatsApp number and email, your company address, a short description of the company, a short description of the product or idea, and whether you have taken any investment.
- Both descriptions are capped at about two hundred words each, so write them tight.
- You can also reach the team on innovation@opju.ac.in during office hours, Monday to Friday.
What the form tells you they look for
The form asks for a DPIIT number and a company address, which suggests an incorporated company is the expected shape, though it is not stated as a requirement. It asks whether you have already raised investment. And it gives equal weight to describing the company and describing the product, so prepare both — what you have built and what stage it is at, not just the idea.
The other routes in
The Center is also a nominating body for national schemes, which is a separate door:
- MSME Idea Hackathon. The Center runs its own internal hackathon first and forwards the shortlisted ideas. In a recent round it evaluated 103 ideas and put 40 forward. If this is your route, watch for the internal round rather than applying cold.
- YUKTI Innovation Challenge. Run by the Ministry of Education; you apply through the national portal, and the Center supports innovations through it.
- AICTE Productization Fellowship. By its own description this is for students in higher education, so it is not a founder route unless you are studying.
What to expect if you get in
The published path runs bootcamps, mentoring, help with incorporation and compliance, funding and investor introductions, hiring help, branding and go-to-market, customer and partner introductions, and a demo day pitch. There is no stated duration and no fixed intake, so ask how long they expect to work with you and what milestones they set.
Two things worth knowing
The prototyping equipment is real and specific, so if you are building hardware this is a stronger fit than the Center's size suggests. And several of its startups have gone on to win grants and places at incubators elsewhere in Chhattisgarh and nationally, which says the team is used to preparing founders for outside applications.
About OPJU Innovation Center
The OPJU Innovation Center is a startup incubator on the O.P. Jindal University campus at Punjipathara, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The university set it up in 2020 as a Section 8 non-profit company, so it is a separate body with its own board, not a department. Its own pages say it exists to mentor students, alumni, and others within and outside the university towards becoming entrepreneurs.
It is one of the few startup incubators in this part of Chhattisgarh. Raigarh sits in the state's steel belt, and the wider university is built around that industry, but the Center itself puts no sector limit on who it backs. The startups it shows off run across electric vehicles, assistive health devices, farm technology and AI software.
Who can apply
The Center does not publish an eligibility rule, and its two descriptions of itself do not fully agree. Its About page says it mentors students, alumni and others within and outside the university. Its FAQ calls it the university's incubator and accelerator space for technology-based startups within the university. The registration form is the clearer signal: it asks for your startup name, your DPIIT number, your company address and a description of your product or idea, and it asks nothing at all about being an OPJU student or graduate. Read together, an outside founder can register, but if you are not connected to the university it is worth a call or an email first to check where you stand before you spend time on an application.
Nothing on the site says whether incubation is free or paid, and nothing says whether the Center takes equity. Ask both questions early.
How the support works
The Center describes a single incubation path rather than dated cohorts, and there is no application window to wait for. It sets out eight steps, in order: technical and business bootcamps, one-to-one mentoring from industry people and experienced founders, help with company incorporation and compliance, funding and investor introductions, help hiring a core team and finding co-founders, branding and go-to-market work, introductions to partners and customers, and a demo day where you pitch to investors and media. The Center says selected startups get structured support, training, funding guidance and incubation services.
Alongside that, it acts as the route into several national schemes rather than running funded programmes of its own. It nominates innovations into the Ministry of Education's YUKTI Innovation Challenge and into the AICTE Productization Fellowship, which is for students in higher education. It also runs an internal hackathon to shortlist ideas for the Ministry of MSME's national Idea Hackathon: one recent round evaluated 103 ideas and forwarded 40. A further programme, NIF 4.0, is listed on the site but marked as coming soon with no registration route, so treat it as not yet open.
The Center and the university's AICTE IDEA Lab also run short hands-on workshops together, including a three-day one on electric vehicles and 3D printing. Those are aimed at students.
Facilities
The Center says it offers co-working space, labs, prototyping facilities and equipment access. The prototyping kit is described in some detail and is unusually specific for a campus incubator: a CNC router with a planetary gearbox and heavy gantry, a 16K resin 3D printer, an industrial FDM printer for large functional parts, a sublimation and badge-making workspace for custom merchandise, and a motorised sewing machine. Startups also work alongside the OPJU AICTE IDEA Lab, which is the university's own maker facility.
Scale
The Center reports twenty startups incubated, four hundred ideas, a hundred and fifty prototypes and five thousand students engaged. These are its own counters, undated, so read them as a rough sense of size rather than a verified record. On nominations into national schemes it gives firmer numbers: sixty-six innovations put up for the AICTE Productization Fellowship, twenty for the YUKTI grant and forty for the MSME hackathon.
Its portfolio page names five incubated companies with live websites: Erkey Motors, an electric mobility company; IFI BVP Healthcare Solution, which builds smart assistive glasses for visually impaired people; Motoget Navyug Innovations, working on EV diagnostics and charging; Quasitech Innovations, an AI customer-support product; and TM Krishiyug Inovatives in agritech. Its achievements page names several more, including Aayunex Innovation, AARUG, Alien Innovations and Mitti Agrotech Organics, and records those startups winning ignition grants at other incubators, placing in national bootcamps and pitching at state events.
Who runs it
The board of directors is chaired by Dr. R.D. Patidar, the university's Vice Chancellor, and includes two Jindal-group plant executives. Dr. Deepayan Priyadarshi is Chief Executive Officer, and there is a named Incubation Manager, Mr. Gyaneesh Bhatt, which is a useful first point of contact. The Center also lists an external advisory committee drawn from industry in India and abroad, an internal committee of OPJU professors, and a large group of faculty innovation ambassadors.
Where it is and how to reach it
The Center is on the OPJU campus at Punjipathara, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh 496109. It publishes innovation@opju.ac.in and two phone numbers, and gives office hours of 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday, closed at weekends. The university itself runs information centres in Bhilai, Bilaspur, Sambalpur and Patna, but those handle admissions, not incubation. The university's careers page carries its job openings; the Center does not list vacancies separately.
Separately from the Center, the university runs a Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, an Institution's Innovation Council and a student and faculty start-up policy committee. Those are campus programmes for OPJU's own students and staff. The Innovation Center is the body that takes in startups.
