Programmes they run

Standing programmes at Center for Incubation, Adamas University, separate from the funding calls above.

The centre's own menu lists several more schemes — ARISE, Seed Funding & Entrepreneurship, Course Offered and an Adamas Innovation and Incubation Foundation — but none of them has a page behind it, so none is written up here. Only the incubation application and the two BIRAC fellowships have published detail.

The centre's open application route, for any Indian national with an innovative product, process or service that could become a business.

Best for: Indian nationals — an individual, a company, an NGO or a group — with an idea or venture that has business potential

  • Idea – Early revenue
  • In person
What you get, who can apply and how to apply

This is the route a founder outside the university takes. There is no cohort calendar and no published deadline; you send in a form and the centre comes back to you.

Who can apply

  • Any Indian national — a person, a company, an NGO or a group — working towards an innovative product, process or service with business potential for building an enterprise.
  • You can be at any of five points: an idea at ideation stage, a planned business model, a prototype or proof of concept, ready for a pilot launch, or an existing business looking to grow revenue.
  • Your idea has to fall into one of three kinds: technology, business model, or social.
  • Students and women with an idea at ideation or early business-development stage are highly encouraged to apply.

What you get

The centre does not publish this. Its support page carries a heading and no detail, so ask before you commit.

How selection works: not published. The only thing the centre states about rejection is that wrong or incomplete information on the form can cause it.

How to apply: download the pre-incubation enquiry form and the final application form from the Apply Now page, fill in every field (write NA where something does not apply), sign it, and convert it to PDF. Then fill the short online form on the same page — name, company name if you have one, business category, startup stage, email, mobile and address — and upload the signed PDF. You can email the completed form to incubation.au@adamasuniversity.ac.in instead.

Labs & facilities

Equipment and space on campus.

These are the spaces and equipment the centre names on its own pages. It does not publish desk rental or membership terms, and it names only three pieces of equipment, so check what is actually available before you plan around a lab.

Pre-Incubation Unit

Listed among the centre's infrastructure. It is not offered as rentable desk space.

Innovation Lounge

Listed among the centre's infrastructure. No booking or rental terms are published, so treat it as a shared campus space rather than a coworking membership.

Cell Culture Lab

One of the centre's two named labs.

Bio-Innovation Lab

The centre's second named lab, alongside the E-YUVA Centre's biotechnology work.

Lab equipment

The only equipment the centre names is an inverted microscope, a hot air oven and a dry bath.

Support services

Help offered alongside funding and space.

IP & patents

The E-YUVA Centre lists intellectual property support among what it provides to innovators, and the incubation site runs sessions on intellectual property among its events.

Legal & finance

Legal support is listed among the E-YUVA Centre's support for innovators.

Regulatory support

Regulatory support is listed among the E-YUVA Centre's support for innovators.

Market access

The E-YUVA Centre lists marketing assistance, networking and connections with technical experts and industry.

Business advisory

The E-YUVA Centre lists grooming and training for innovators, skill and leadership development, and help building a business plan with milestones and a timeline.

Recognitions & empanelments

Official approvals this incubator holds.

The row previously carried a West Bengal state government credential. It came from an admissions answer about the state's Student Credit Card scheme, which is a tuition loan for enrolled students and has nothing to do with incubation or startups, so it has been dropped. The centre makes no Atal Innovation Mission claim; a mention of the Atal Ranking of Institutions on its innovation council page is a ranking framework, not an incubation centre, and a Mentor of Change award named on a staff page belongs to that individual.

E-YUVA Centre supported by BIRAC (Department of Biotechnology, Government of India)· 2021

The centre's own page states that its E-YUVA Centre was established in August 2021 at Adamas University through BIRAC's support, and that it is one of ten such centres in India. This is BIRAC's E-YUVA scheme, not BioNEST. BIRAC's own register of E-YUVA centres could not be reached on 25 September 2026, and no funding period is published, so whether the support is still running cannot be told from what is available.

Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)

Listed at entry 175 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "ADAMAS UNIVERSITY" (24 PARAGANAS NORTH, WEST BENGAL), checked 24 September 2026. That is the status which lets an innovator name the institute as their Host Institute when applying on the ministry's own portal. The list gives no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it; and being listed is a capacity registration, not evidence that the institute has ever hosted an approved idea. The ministry's list did not load again on 25 September 2026.

How to apply to Center for Incubation, Adamas University

Decide which door you are knocking on

Two different routes run out of the same site, and they are not interchangeable.

  • Center for Incubation is the one open to outside founders. Use it if you have a venture or an idea you want to build into a business.
  • The E-YUVA Centre's BIRAC fellowships are academic fellowships for students and researchers, tied to degrees and to time limits after graduating. They are not a route for an already-trading company.

If you are a founder with no connection to the university, the incubation application is your route.

Get the application right the first time

The centre says outright that wrong or incomplete information can get a form rejected, and the process gives it plenty of chances to happen.

  • Download both documents from the Apply Now page, the pre-incubation enquiry form and the final application form.
  • Fill in every field. Where something genuinely does not apply, write NA rather than leaving a blank.
  • Sign the form before you send it.
  • Convert it to PDF. A Word file is not what they ask for.
  • Fill the short online form on the same page and upload the signed PDF there, or email the form to the incubation inbox instead.

Pick your category and stage honestly

The form makes you choose two things, and both shape how your application reads.

  • Category: technology, business or social. Pick the one that describes where the innovation actually sits. A social enterprise built on ordinary technology is a social application, not a technology one.
  • Stage: ideation, proof of concept or prototype, pilot launch, revenue generation, or under development. The centre accepts all of them, so there is nothing to gain from claiming to be further along than you are.

Ask the questions the site does not answer

The centre publishes no deadline, no cohort calendar, no selection steps and no list of what an accepted startup gets. Its Support page is empty. So before you commit anything, email the incubation inbox and ask:

  • What happens after the form goes in, and how long a decision takes.
  • What incubation actually includes, and whether lab or desk space comes with it.
  • Whether there is any fee, and whether the centre takes equity.
  • Whether you need to be incorporated, or whether an individual can be incubated.

Play to where the centre is strongest

Its two labs are a cell culture lab and a bio-innovation lab, its senior person is a microbiologist, and its BIRAC centre works on biotechnology. The application form accepts a much wider list, but a life sciences, biotech, agri or food venture is the one this centre has the equipment and the people to help with. Say plainly in your form what you need from them, because that is the part a generic application leaves out.

About Center for Incubation, Adamas University

Center for Incubation is the startup arm of Adamas University in Kolkata, West Bengal. It runs from its own site, which the university brands Innovation & Incubation, Adamas University, and it sits on the Barrackpore-Barasat Road campus in 24 Parganas North. Alongside it the university runs an E-YUVA Centre supported by BIRAC, the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

The reason it is worth a founder's attention is its intake. Many university innovation cells only take their own students. This one does not. Its application page says it accepts any Indian national working towards an innovative product, process or service with the business potential to become an enterprise, and it names four kinds of applicant: a person, a company, an NGO or a group.

Who can apply

You do not have to be an Adamas student. The centre asks that you are an Indian national and that your idea has business potential. It invites applications at five points on the journey: an idea at ideation stage, a planned business model, a prototype or proof of concept, a product or service ready for a pilot launch, and an existing enterprise looking to grow its revenue. It sorts ideas into three kinds, and you pick one when you apply. Technology covers a business built on a technical innovation. Business covers a business built on an innovative model. Social covers social development through creating a business. The centre adds that students and women with an idea at ideation or early business-development stage are highly encouraged to apply.

The application form's own category list shows the range it accepts: core engineering, life sciences and biotechnology, food and agriculture, computer science and IT, AI and machine learning, education technology, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, FMCG, finance, online business, real estate, and an others option you fill in yourself.

How to apply

Applying is a form-and-email process rather than a portal login. Go to the Apply Now page and download the two documents it offers, a pre-incubation enquiry form and a final application form, each in Word and PDF. The centre is strict about how they come back. Fill every field, and where a field does not apply to you write NA rather than leaving it blank. Sign the form. Convert it to PDF. Then fill the short online form on the same page, which asks for your name, your company name if you have one, your business category, your startup stage, your email, your mobile number and your address, and upload the signed PDF there. You can email the completed form to the incubation inbox instead. The centre warns that wrong or incomplete information can get an application rejected, which is worth taking literally given that the first form is a document you fill offline.

No deadline, cohort dates or selection steps are published, and the centre does not say what an accepted startup receives. Its Support page carries a heading and nothing under it. So treat the application as an enquiry that opens a conversation, and ask about terms, duration and what you get before you commit.

Fellowships through the E-YUVA Centre

The E-YUVA Centre was set up at Adamas University in August 2021 with BIRAC's support, and the centre says it is one of ten such centres in India. It works on translational research, which it describes as bridging academic research and industry so that products reach the market, and it supports people from undergraduates to post-doctoral fellows.

Three BIRAC fellowships run through it. E-YUVA Fellows is for undergraduates in any subject, applying as a team of up to five Indian students with a faculty mentor, and runs for twelve months. Innovation Fellows has two versions. One is for Indian students who have finished a Master's in any discipline and apply within three years of finishing; the other is for those who have finished a PhD in any discipline and apply within two years. Women are exempt from both of those time limits. Each runs eighteen months, with a six-month extension only in deserving cases. All three carry a stipend and a research grant, and mentors on the undergraduate track get a certificate.

Facilities

The centre lists a pre-incubation unit, an innovation lounge, a conference room and a smart classroom, plus two labs, a cell culture lab and a bio-innovation lab. Named equipment is an inverted microscope, a hot air oven and a dry bath. Its own pages do not offer desks or office space for rent, so do not expect a coworking arrangement.

Who runs it

Dr. Saptarshi Chatterjee is Associate Director for incubation and Chief Coordinator of the E-YUVA Centre, and is an Associate Professor of Microbiology at the university. Prof. Sajal Saha is Director, Product and Innovation, and Head of Computer Science and Engineering. The governing board is chaired by the university's own leadership, with Dr. Amalesh Mukhopadhyay, a former Scientist G at the Department of Science and Technology, as a member.

Track record

The portfolio page names nine incubatee companies, working in areas from agri and foods to a fruit ripening sensor, data analytics and digital marketing. It also lists nine pre-incubates, all of them Adamas University students. The centre publishes no totals, so those are the names on the page rather than a running count. Its homepage counters for events, incubates, mentors and collaborations do not load, showing zeros instead of values.

Where it is and what else happens there

The centre is on the Barrackpore-Barasat Road in Jagannathpur, 24 Parganas North, Kolkata. The university also hosts an Institution's Innovation Council under the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, which runs campus innovation activity, and the incubation site lists workshops, seminars, exposure visits, hackathons, capacity-building programmes and intellectual property sessions among its events. There is no careers page.
