PM VIKAS Scheme

Programme

Provides advanced, fully sponsored skill development opportunities for 1,200 minority youth across Punjab in precision farming, drone technology, automotive welding, and IT technical support.

Formalized by an MoU between IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation and the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. Focuses on industry-aligned skill training to enhance employability and promote entrepreneurship without financial burden on participants. Includes specialized training in Precision Farming Technician, Junior Engineer – Drone (R&D), Automotive Welding Machine Operator, and IT Technical Support Executive. Curriculum developed with industry experts; training delivered at state-of-the-art centers across Punjab. Supports Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.

About AWaDH, IIT Ropar

iHub-AWaDH (Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub) is a national deep-tech hub at IIT Ropar established under DST's National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) with initial support of Rs 110 crore. It focuses on agriculture and water technology development through incubation, collaborative R&D, and skill development programs.

The hub has incubated 150+ startups, facilitated Rs 120 crore+ in overall funding, developed 70+ technologies, nurtured 100+ agritech and water-tech startups, and skilled 5,000+ youth in cyber-physical systems with a focus on AI and IoT. AWaDH won the National Incubation Centre Award at Ek Bharat-Udyami Bharat, recognizing its contribution to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
