Corps of EME, Indian Army

The Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) is a premier combat support arm of the Indian Army. Since its inception in 1943, its "Soldier-Craftsmen" have been responsible for the design, maintenance, repair, and recovery of all mechanical and electronic equipment, ranging from tanks to advanced communication systems. The Corps operates under the motto "Karm Hi Dharm" (Work is Supreme Duty).

Role in the Startup Ecosystem

The Corps of EME acts as an R&D partner for deep-tech innovation programmes, contributing operational problem statements, expert advice, testing support, and space for integration. It partners with IHFC, IIT Delhi on the RakshaTech Synapse initiative, where it defines defence problem statements in exoskeletons, humanoid robotics, IoT-enabled additive manufacturing, and robotics-enabled equipment repair.
