Programmes they run

Standing programmes at ACIC Devbhumi Foundation, separate from the funding calls above.

The centre groups its offer into three families rather than dated cohorts. None of the three publishes an intake window, eligibility rules, a selection process, a cost or an equity policy, so treat each entry as what the centre says it does, and confirm the terms with them directly.

The centre's main route in, running from idea validation through incubation to help with funding and market access.

Best for: Founders and grassroots innovators in the Kumaon region, from first idea through to early growth

  • In person
What you get, who can apply and how to apply

ACIC Devbhumi Foundation runs its startup support in three steps rather than as a dated cohort, and it publishes no intake window, so you ask for a place directly.

What you get

  • Pre-incubation: idea validation, design thinking and building a minimum viable product.
  • Incubation: business strategy, prototyping, market research and product development.
  • Acceleration: funding assistance, scaling strategies, market access and investor connects.
  • Alongside these, guidance on intellectual property rights, business modelling and fundraising, co-working space, lab access, and introductions to mentors, industry experts and investors.

Who can apply

  • Aspiring entrepreneurs, students, grassroots innovators and community women's groups, which is the audience the centre names on every page.
  • The centre publishes no eligibility rules, no incorporation requirement and no geography gate, so confirm your own case with them before you plan around it.

How to apply: There is no form. Write to info@acicdevbhumi.org or call the centre, say which of the three steps you want and what stage you are at. The office is open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

  • Hackathons and ideathons built around problem solving, design thinking and innovation challenges.
  • Financial and legal training covering business compliance, intellectual property and fundraising.
  • Capacity building for grassroots innovators, women entrepreneurs and self-help groups, covering technical, business and leadership skills.

Who can apply

  • Students, first-time founders, grassroots innovators, women entrepreneurs and self-help groups.

How to apply: Ask at info@acicdevbhumi.org when the next session is scheduled. The centre's own events pages do not load, so email or the phone is the reliable route.

Recognitions & empanelments

Official approvals this incubator holds.

Both credentials were checked against the issuing body's own published list rather than taken from the centre's pages alone. Neither list states a funding period or a current status.

Atal Community Innovation Centre, supported by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog

The centre states on its own about page that ACIC Devbhumi Foundation is a Section 8 company established as a special purpose vehicle under Devbhumi Foundation and supported by the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog. We checked this against AIM's own published ACIC results for applications received till 30 June 2020 on 24 September 2026: Devbhumi Foundation, Uttarakhand, rural, NGO, appears there with the result 'Qualified' and a remark that further due diligence was recommended. That table records a selection outcome, not a live directory, and AIM publishes no ACIC directory, so whether the grant is current cannot be told from any source we found.

Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)

Listed at entry 54 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "Devbhumi Foundation" (NAINITAL, UTTARAKHAND), checked 24 September 2026. This is the status that lets an innovator name the institute as their Host Institute when applying on the ministry's own portal. The list gives no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it; and being listed is a capacity registration, not evidence that the institute has ever hosted an approved idea. The parent trust separately says it works with the community through the MSME Business Incubator.

How to apply to ACIC Devbhumi Foundation

Before you write

This centre publishes no application form and no intake dates, so a cold, specific email does more than waiting for a call to open. Say in three lines what you are building, what stage it is at, and exactly what you want from the centre — a seat in incubation, a lab, or a place on a training or hackathon.

Pick what you are actually asking for

  • Idea stage: ask about pre-incubation — idea validation, design thinking and getting to a first working version.
  • You have a prototype: ask about incubation — business strategy, prototyping, market research and product development.
  • You have customers and want to grow: ask about acceleration — funding help, scaling, market access and investor connects.
  • You need a machine or a bench: ask about the makers and fab lab, the biotechnology and agricultural labs, or the IT labs.
  • You want to learn first: ask when the next workshop, bootcamp, ideathon or hackathon runs.

What fits best here

The centre works to the region's own strengths — agriculture, biotechnology, handicrafts and rural enterprises — and it names grassroots innovators, women entrepreneurs and self-help groups as an audience it sets out to serve. A venture rooted in the Kumaon region, or one whose customers are there, is an easier fit than a generic software play.

Ask these questions up front

Nothing on the centre's pages answers them, so get them in writing before you commit time:

  • Is there an intake window, or is it rolling?
  • Who may apply — do you need a registered company, and does the centre take founders from outside MIET Kumaon?
  • Is any of the support charged, and does the centre take equity?
  • What do you need to bring — a deck, a working model, a business plan?
  • Which labs are actually installed and working right now, and how is access booked?

How to reach them

Email info@acicdevbhumi.org, call the number on the contact page, or use the contact form. The office runs Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and is closed on Sunday. The centre is on the MIET Kumaon campus at Shiksha Nagar, Lamachaur, Haldwani — close enough to visit if you are in Nainital district, and worth doing, because a visit will answer the questions the website does not.

About ACIC Devbhumi Foundation

ACIC Devbhumi Foundation is a community innovation centre in Haldwani, in Nainital district, Uttarakhand. It is a Section 8 non-profit company, set up as a special purpose vehicle under Devbhumi Foundation and supported by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog. It sits on the MIET Kumaon campus at Shiksha Nagar, Lamachaur, and works with entrepreneurs across the Kumaon region.

Devbhumi Foundation itself is the parent trust, established in 2011. It works on education, women's empowerment, rural development and ecosystem conservation, and says its strength is community engagement — long relationships with government bodies, NGOs, farmer producer organisations, self-help groups, colleges and research groups. The same trust runs MIET Kumaon, which offers BBA and BCA courses affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital, and nursing and paramedical courses affiliated to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Medical University, Dehradun, and Swastyayan Senior Secondary School. The trust also says it works with the community through the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, the Institution's Innovation Council and the MSME Business Incubator.

The centre describes its own job as taking an idea to a prototype, then to a product, then to a venture. It leans on what the region already does well — agriculture, biotechnology, handicrafts and rural enterprises — and it aims that work at people a city incubator usually misses: grassroots innovators, women-led self-help groups and first-time founders in the hills.

How the support works

The centre publishes three families of support rather than dated cohorts.

Incubation and startup support runs in three steps. Pre-incubation covers idea validation, design thinking and building a minimum viable product. Incubation covers business strategy, prototyping, market research and product development. Acceleration covers funding assistance, scaling strategies, market access and investor connects. Alongside this the centre offers guidance on intellectual property rights, business modelling and fundraising.

Skill development and training is the second family: workshops and bootcamps on entrepreneurship, digital marketing, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies; hackathons and ideathons built around problem solving, design thinking and innovation challenges; and financial and legal training covering business compliance, IP and fundraising. The centre also runs capacity building aimed specifically at grassroots innovators, women entrepreneurs and self-help groups, covering technical, business and leadership skills.

The innovation and research hub is the third: a makers lab and fab lab for hands-on product development, biotechnology and agricultural labs for agritech, herbal innovation and biotech work, and information technology labs for AI, IoT and software projects. The about page also names co-working space and access to mentors, industry experts and investors.

Who can apply

The centre names its audience in the same sentence on every page: aspiring entrepreneurs, students, grassroots innovators and community women's groups. Nothing on the site limits intake to MIET Kumaon students, and nothing requires you to have incorporated a company first — but nothing confirms the opposite either, because the centre publishes no eligibility rules at all.

That is the honest state of it. There is no application form, no intake window, no deadline, no selection process and no statement of whether support is free or paid, or whether the centre takes equity. If you want in, the route is the phone number, the general enquiry inbox or the contact form, and you will have to ask those questions directly.

How to apply

Write to info@acicdevbhumi.org or call the centre on the number listed on its contact page, and say which of the three families of support you are after — a place in incubation, a training or hackathon, or lab access. The office is open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and closed on Sunday. Because the centre sits on the MIET Kumaon campus, a visit is practical if you are anywhere in the Kumaon region.

Who runs it

Dr. Kamal Singh Rawat is the CEO and Dr. Vatsalya Sharma is the Incubation Manager. Charanjeet Singh and Sonam Parihar Bhandari are listed as Young Professionals. The board has two directors, Vishnu Saran and Akanksha Agarwal. Four mentors are named: Dr. B.S. Kalakoti, a director at Monard Industries and formerly of the Dabur Group; Dr. S.C. Pant, a consultant toxicologist formerly an associate director at DRDO; Dr. Ashutosh Bhatt, an associate professor at the School of CS and IT, Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani; and Dr. Manindra Mohan, a scientist at the Uttarakhand Council for Biotechnology.

What we could not confirm

The centre's website is built on an off-the-shelf template that has not been fully edited, so several parts of it are not about this organisation at all. Five items in its own navigation — Facilities, Ideathon/Hackathon, Capacity Building Workshops, Exhibitions and DBEEA 4.0 — all load the homepage instead of a page of their own, so there is no published list of events, no equipment list and no record of past editions. The counters and the "trusted and funded by" line that appear on several pages belong to the template and carry no real values, so we publish none of them. The named startups below come from the centre's own quotes carousel and are self-reported.

Our record previously pointed at MIET Meerut's website and a staff address there. Devbhumi Foundation's trustees are Meerut families who also run the MIET group, and MIET Kumaon says it takes guidance from those institutions, so the link is real — but it is a family and trust connection, not this centre's own website. The centre's own site is acicdevbhumi.org, and the parent trust keeps a separate site of its own covering the schools and colleges.
