Timelines & Process
Selection Process
Applications are evaluated during November-December 2026 by the MassChallenge team. Finalists are notified in December 2026 and are required to attend mandatory in-person Matchmaking sessions in Boston (January 6-8, 2027) for an interview process with corporate partners. Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to apply?
We’re looking for pre-seed to Series A startups whose solutions address one or more of our partners’ published challenge statements. Our partners are leaders in FinTech, Insurance and Healthcare & Life Sciences, but their challenges often go beyond those industries, so read through the challenge statements even if your startup works in another field. At least one founder or C-suite team member must attend the required in-person events in Boston: Matchmaking (January 6 to 8, 2027, for finalists only), Kickoff & Orientation (February 9 to 10, 2027) and the program close-out event in mid-June 2027.
Do I need to be based in Boston? Are there any in-person requirements for this program?
No, we accept applications from startups from around the world. However, there are four required in-person sessions that at least one member from your team must attend: Matchmaking (interview process with corporate partners, for selected startups prior to program starting), Orientation week, the Mid-Programming Session and the Program Showcase & Finale. Any additional travel should be determined by you and your challenge partner.
What does a typical week look like for startups accepted to a program?
Most weeks, you’ll run your business as usual and set aside time to work with your partner(s) on your shared goals. You’ll also meet with mentors in areas like marketing, law, investment, compliance and regulation, and technology. Use each week to build on the connections you’re making with your mentors, your fellow cohort members and the MassChallenge network, because these relationships often last well beyond the program.
What is the required time commitment to participate?
The program runs from February to June 2027. Plan on spending 3 to 5 hours a week working with your partner, including meetings with them about twice a month, depending on their schedule. You’ll also have regular check-ins with your mentor and the MassChallenge team. At least one team member must attend the required in-person events in Boston: Kickoff & Orientation (February 9 to 10) and the close-out event in mid-June. Finalists also attend Matchmaking (January 6 to 8). There’s also a virtual mid-program day in April.
