About Indian Institute of Technology Ropar
The IIT Ropar Technology Business Incubator Foundation (TBIF) is a Section 8 non-profit incubator at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar in Rupnagar, Punjab. It works with startups, students, faculty and regional innovators to turn technology ideas into ventures. The incubator is set up under the NIDHI-TBI scheme of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
How the incubator works
TBIF describes its work in three stages. LEARN covers ideation and validation. BUILD covers execution and mentorship. SCALE covers growth and leadership. Incubated startups get access to about 20,000 square feet of lab space and prototyping facilities, mentorship from IIT faculty, and a network of more than 180 industry mentors.
Support also covers IP, legal, compliance and CA work. Selected startups can receive seed funding, and TBIF makes investor connections for them.

Calls and programmes
TBIF has issued open calls for defence startups, to join TBIF and DRIF in driving deep-tech innovation, and for social innovation on SDG 6, clean water and sanitation. In 2026 it also ran a Certificate of Entrepreneurship Programme with EDC India, a 10-day programme with 12 sessions from 15 February 2026, and EmpowerHer, a five-day programme for women leaders held in Bhopal from 16 to 20 March 2026. Those 2026 intakes are dated, so check the TBIF site for the next one.
The flagship E-SUMMIT was held on the IIT Ropar campus on 11 and 12 April 2026.
