Is JECP the right door

• You run a small enterprise in Purvanchal. This is the main case JECP is built for. Go to the incubation programme.
• You are a woman founder, or working on green, agri, craft, digital or health enterprise. There is a Centre of Excellence for your sector, and the sector centres are where most of the named programmes and funders sit. Say which sector you are in when you apply.
• You are a farmer producer company. The Agro CoE has incubated FPOs and paired them with agri-technology firms, so mention it if that is you.
• You are a college, company or institution. You are not applying for incubation — you want the rural immersion programme, a corporate retreat, or the campus as a venue. Those go through the facilities enquiry form, not the incubation form.
• You are looking for Jagriti Yatra. That is the train journey run by the same parent organisation, and it has its own separate intake.

How applications work

• There is one application route: the JECP Incubation Program form, reached from the Apply item in the site's Get Involved menu. It sits on JECP's own separate portal.
• The form is in Hindi and English, and it asks for the enterprise name, the founder's name, a mobile number, age group, gender, legal status, revenue model and year of operation, plus a declaration you have to tick.
• One application per mobile number. If you start one and stop, you can reopen it from a link sent to your email rather than starting again.
• After you submit, JECP says its team will contact you within two to three weeks.
• General questions can go to support@jagriti.org, or through the contact form, which promises a reply in two to three business days.

What JECP does not tell you up front

• Eligibility is not published. Nothing on the site says whether your enterprise must be registered, whether there is a district restriction, or whether there is an age or turnover limit. The form's own questions imply it is aimed at enterprises already trading, even informally. Ask before you assume you do not qualify.
• There is no published deadline. Intakes are announced as cohorts, so applying and then following up is better than waiting for a call.
• Cost is unclear. The incubation page lists JECP Membership as one of what you get but does not say what membership costs, if anything. Ask.
• Whether JECP itself funds enterprises is unclear. Its framework treats money as financial readiness, and the funds its enterprises have raised are described as raised from outside sources. One women's programme states a per-woman grant. Do not apply expecting an investment from JECP.

What to have ready

• What your enterprise sells, and to whom, in one or two plain lines.
• Your current legal status, however informal, and how you make money.
• The year you started and roughly where you are now.
• Which district you operate in, and whether you can get to Deoria or one of the network offices.
• What you want most out of the year: buyers, mentoring, systems, or help getting finance. JECP's support is organised around those, and demo days are where market and investor introductions happen.

Jagriti Enterprise Centre – Purvanchal, known as JECP, is an enterprise incubation centre at Village Araipar near Baitalpur in Deoria district, eastern Uttar Pradesh. It is an initiative of Jagriti Sewa Sansthan, and it works with first-time rural founders and small businesses across seven Purvanchal districts. Its own footer describes its job as supporting small and medium enterprises across Tier 2 and Tier 3 districts of India.

JECP is not Jagriti Yatra. The Yatra is a separate part of the same parent, a national train journey for young people that has run since 2008. JECP is a place: a campus with an incubation block, network offices in seven districts, and field staff who work with enterprises week to week. A third arm, JADE, works with Yatra alumni on district leadership. If you are looking for the train journey, that is a different intake from the one described here.

How incubation works

JECP's method is what it calls the 7M process: Mobilization, Mentorship, Market Connect, Money, Miscellaneous Services, Mahol and Mitra. In plain terms, field teams find enterprises in the districts, pair them with mentors and buyers, get their finances in order, help with branding, compliance and systems, keep a peer group around them, and put a local person alongside them for day-to-day execution. Money is described as financial readiness rather than a cheque, and the incubation journey's last step before graduation is access to funding opportunities, so treat JECP as a route to finance rather than a source of it.

The published journey runs through induction and orientation, personalised mentorship, subject-matter experts, business planning, business-model refinement, market readiness and digital capacity building, networking, demo days, progress tracking and graduation, after which an enterprise joins the alumni network. The centre says support is most intense in months two to four. Monthly meetups, product and service demo days, an investor demo day and a graduation ceremony are the fixed points in the calendar. No total programme length is published.

Who can apply

JECP publishes no eligibility rules, so this is worth asking about before you spend time on a form. What the incubation page does say is that its programmes are tailored to various stages of the entrepreneurial journey, from idea validation to scale-up, and the sectors in focus are handicrafts and apparel, women-led enterprise, healthcare, agro-processing and digital innovation. The application form asks for an enterprise name, a legal status, a revenue model and a year of operation, which suggests it is built for existing enterprises, including informal ones, rather than for people with only an idea. It does not say whether you must be registered, or whether you must be based in one of the districts it covers.

Centres of Excellence

Seven Centres of Excellence sit on top of the incubation work, each meant to drive growth in one sector and each with a named chairperson. They cover women's enterprise, bioregional development, digital, handicrafts and apparel, agro, healthcare and rural urbanization. Every centre is built on the same three pillars: innovation across value chains, 7M incubation support with a focus on women and youth, and development programmes run with the private sector, philanthropy and government.

Some of the centres are well into their work and some are new. The Women CoE reports women mobilised, trained, digitally integrated and incubated through two programmes, Tech Shakti and Tech Shakti Sri. The Bioregional CoE runs the Green Enterprise Development Program and reports enterprises supported across seven districts. The Agro CoE has incubated farmer producer companies paired with agri-technology firms, and runs green skills, digital literacy and financial literacy training. The Handicrafts CoE works three craft value chains in Deoria, Kushinagar and Gorakhpur: terracotta, moonj and banana fibre. The Digital CoE, launched in April 2023, runs a technology mentorship programme and an accounting skills programme. The Healthcare and Rural Urbanization centres are described mostly in future terms and publish no results yet.

The campus and facilities

The Deoria campus has a 300-seater multi-purpose hall, a 12-seater conference room with screens and Wi-Fi, and five 3-seater co-working offices. The campus doubles as an event venue and is rented to outside institutions for conferences, workshops, training programmes and retreats, which is also how its rural immersion programmes and corporate retreats are booked. The site lists four further groups of facilities by heading only, so it is worth asking what they include.

Scale

JECP's impact page reports 259 enterprises supported in total, of which 121 have graduated and 115 are currently under incubation. It reports 47 per cent of the enterprises as women-led and 41.5 per cent as green, and more than 2,000 jobs created, of which 27.2 per cent went to women. Its sector mix is led by agriculture and allied at 39.7 per cent, then digital and e-commerce at 19 per cent and handicrafts and apparel at 14.3 per cent. These are JECP's own published figures and carry no date. They also do not line up across the site: the About JECP page says more than 200 enterprises incubated, the same page claims more than 50 million lives impacted where the impact page says roughly 25,890 livelihoods, and the mentor count is given as 20, 50 and 85 on three different pages. Named enterprises on its own pages include Santosh Masala Udyog, Sarvdev Agro, Abonics India, Shree Mythili Enterprises, Azeedo, Earth Rakshak and Chaimitra.

Who runs it

Ashutosh Kumar is chief executive and Vishwas Pandey is Director – Incubation. A governing board chaired by Sharat Bansal, a retired PricewaterhouseCoopers partner, sits alongside an advisory board and the seven CoE chairpersons, who include Vanita Viswanath, Shoaib Ahmed, Dr Toolika Gupta, Dr Rajiv B Lall, Manish Agarwal, Annaswamy Vaidheesh and Hemendra Mathur. Delivery in the districts is by Udyam Corps leads and Udyam Mitra field staff, with one Corps lead and two Mitras per district centre. Named funders of specific programmes include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Cisco CSR India, Rainmatter Foundation, Accenture and Zoho. JECP also takes general career applications through its website, in areas from incubation and mentorship to field mobilization and monitoring.

Locations

The main campus is at Village Araipar, PO Barpar, Baitalpur, Deoria, Uttar Pradesh 274201. Network offices run in Deoria, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Ballia, Mau, Sant Kabir Nagar and Maharajganj; the Kushinagar and Mau offices are branded Jagriti Udyam Kendra. The centre's plan is to grow to ten districts on a hub-and-spoke model, with a district Udyam Upkendra offering co-working, training and incubation space in each.
