KIT's College of Engineering (Autonomous), Kolhapur (KITCOEK), established in 1983, was the first self-financed engineering college in Maharashtra. It is home to the KIT Innovation & Research Foundation (KIT's IRF) — one of Maharashtra's recognized technology business incubators.

KIT's Innovation & Research Foundation (KIRF)

KIRF is a Section 8 company (not-for-profit structure) supported by:

• Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS)
• Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India under NIDHI i-TBI (National Initiatives for Developing and Harnessing Innovations — Inclusive TBI)

KIRF provides structured incubation across multiple stages, with a focus on physical and virtual startups.

KIT's Incubation Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship (KITE)

KITE, established in 2019, is the startup-enabling ecosystem at KITCOEK that feeds into KIRF. It runs:

• Pre-incubation and validation programs
• Prototype development support
• Access to labs, equipment, and co-working spaces
