Pusa Krishi is the agritech incubation and technology commercialisation initiative based at the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi. It operates within IARI's Zonal Technology Management & Business Planning and Development (ZTM-BPD) Unit and works to translate agricultural research from one of India's premier agricultural institutions into market-ready products and ventures.
The centre supports startups and entrepreneurs working on crop improvement, seeds, farm mechanisation, post-harvest technologies, plant protection, organic inputs, and allied agri-input businesses. Many of the technologies licensed through Pusa Krishi originate from IARI's own scientists, including improved varieties, biofertilisers, biopesticides, and farm-ready prototypes.
Pusa Krishi facilitates technology licensing, mentoring, and incubation support for agri-entrepreneurs. It runs awareness and outreach programmes for farmers and agri-startups, and connects ventures to IARI's laboratories, field facilities, and scientific expertise. The unit also acts as a single window for entrepreneurs seeking access to IARI-developed technologies.
As part of the ICAR system, Pusa Krishi is positioned as a bridge between public agricultural research and private agri-enterprise. Founders working in agritech, seed systems, and farm inputs typically engage with the centre for technology transfer, validation support, and access to ICAR-IARI's research network.
