Programmes they run

Standing programmes at Rathinam Technical Campus, separate from the funding calls above.

Every route here is campus-gated. The Startup School enrollment form is subtitled "Only for Rathinam Technical Campus Students" and asks only for a year and a semester; the AICTE IDEA Lab's programmes are all titled for students; and the repository route runs through the college as the evaluating institute. There is no incubation cohort, no funding call and no deadline of the college's own. A founder from outside the campus should go to AIC RAISE, the Atal Incubation Centre in the same group at the same address, which has its own page here.

The college's own startup track, open to enrolled Rathinam Technical Campus students and to nobody else.

Best for: Enrolled Rathinam Technical Campus students in any year and any semester, with or without an idea or a team.

  • Idea
  • Continuous — one enrollment, no announced intake window
  • In person
What you get, who can apply and how to apply

The Startup School is the college's general entry point for students who want to try building something. It is a standing campus route rather than a dated cohort: there is one enrollment form, no announced intake window and no selection call.

Who can apply

  • Rathinam Technical Campus students only. The enrollment form is subtitled "Only for Rathinam Technical Campus Students".
  • Any year from 1st to 4th and any semester from 1st to 8th — the form's two dropdowns are the only academic fields and they cover every stage of the degree.
  • No idea and no team required. The form asks separately whether you have a firm idea, whether you have a team and whether you are ready to form one, so none of the three is a gate.
  • A founder from outside the campus cannot use this. There is no alternative form and no outside intake anywhere on the college's site.

What the form asks

  • Whether you are interested in becoming an entrepreneur, and whether you have a passion for a startup.
  • Whether your family runs a business.
  • Whether you took part in startup activity at school or college before, and whether you want to take part in startup activity in college now.
  • One free-text question: what kind of support you need from the Startup School.

How selection works: The college publishes no selection step, no shortlist and no criteria. The form reads as an enrollment and interest register rather than a competitive application.

How to apply: Fill the enrollment form on the college's own site. The only published contact for the campus is its front-desk phone number; there is no separate Startup School inbox.

The campus making space and its student workshops — 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, electronics and fabrication, with round-the-clock access.

Best for: Rathinam Technical Campus students who need to build, fabricate or prototype something.

  • Idea – Prototype
  • In person
What you get, who can apply and how to apply

R-Fab X Studio is the college's AICTE IDEA Lab and the place on this campus where a prototype gets physically built. It runs as a facility with short programmes attached rather than as an incubation track.

What you get

  • 3D printers in FDM and SLA, a CO2 laser engraver and CNC machines.
  • Electronics benches with oscilloscopes, power supplies and microcontrollers.
  • Welding and fabrication, vertical drilling and precision tools.
  • A design room, collaboration hubs and 24x7 lab access.
  • Mentorship from the lab's faculty team, drawn from electronics and mechanical engineering.

Who can apply

  • Students of the college. Every programme the lab has advertised is student-scoped, and it publishes no access route for anyone outside the campus.

What it runs: AICTE training, workshops, ideathons, hackathons, interdisciplinary projects and mentorship sessions, described as moving students from concept to market-ready products. Its focus areas are additive manufacturing, internet of things and smart systems, and entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurship focus area is named on the page but has no programme, eligibility or intake published behind it.

How to apply: Watch the lab's own page. Its programmes are announced there with their own registration link — SkillForge 2026, a six-day hands-on course in Fusion 360, 3D printing, laser cutting and engraving, IoT and Arduino, digital fabrication and prototype development, ran from 31 August to 5 September 2026 with no fee and a certificate of participation. For lab access, the lab names a chief mentor and a co-coordinator on the same page.

The college's route onto the government's national innovation repository, where students submit an idea and the institute evaluates it.

Best for: Rathinam Technical Campus student teams with an idea, prototype or early venture to put on the national repository.

  • Idea – Prototype
  • Online
What you get, who can apply and how to apply

The college's menu calls this the Idea Innovation Depot and its page calls it RTC Yukthi, but the platform itself is the government's YUKTI National Innovation Repository — every action link on the college's page opens that portal. The college's part is to be the evaluating institute.

How it works, in three steps

  • Teams register and submit an idea to the Innovation Repository Portal. The institute evaluates the submissions and results appear in the portal.
  • After registering, teams can improve the idea or submit an innovation or a prototype, which the institute evaluates again.
  • Shortlisted innovations can then be developed further, or startup details submitted, with results shown in the repository.

Who can apply

  • Students going through their institute. The college's page describes a team registering and its own institute evaluating, so the route runs through enrolment here.

How selection works: Evaluation is by the institute at each of the three stages, and outcomes are published inside the portal rather than announced separately.

How to apply: Start from the college's own page for it, which links straight through to the national portal's registration and login.

Labs & facilities

Equipment and space on campus.

These are student teaching and making spaces attached to the degree, not incubator facilities let to outside startups. Two caveats on the lists: the college's homepage and its centres-of-excellence page name two different sets of hubs, and six names that appear on the homepage — LEAD-X, CircuitSphere, FabricSpace, LENS for Data, CloudNex and Agrinity Hub — have no page anywhere on the site behind them, so only the four with a real page and description are listed here.

R-Fab X Studio (AICTE IDEA Lab)

3D printers in FDM and SLA, a CO2 laser engraver, CNC machines, welding and fabrication, vertical drilling and precision tools, plus a design room and collaboration hubs with 24x7 access. For students of the college; no access route is published for anyone outside it.

R-Fab X Studio electronics benches

Electronics benches with oscilloscopes, power supplies and microcontrollers, inside the same AICTE IDEA Lab. Student access.

Bio-Innovation Hub (Bio-I-Hub)

A biotechnology centre of excellence established in 2020 by Rathinam Technical Campus jointly with the Centre for Bioscience and Nanoscience Research, Coimbatore. Its own page says it exists to give students a platform for innovation and that it mentors undergraduate students, and it hosts BME-Hack, a biomedical engineering hackathon run by the college's biomedical and biotechnology faculty.

Dell – Intel AI Skills Lab

An AI skills centre of excellence run with Dell Technologies and Intel. Teaching and certification for students; the college's centres of excellence are described as offering value-added coursework rather than incubation.

Recognitions & empanelments

Official approvals this incubator holds.

The college's site claims no incubation credential of its own. It is not an Atal Incubation Centre — the Atal recognition in this group belongs to AIC RAISE, which states it on its own site — and nothing on any page claims a Department of Science and Technology, NIDHI, TBI or Startup India designation. The college does host an AICTE IDEA Lab, stated on its own page, which is a real AICTE designation but has no entry in our credential vocabulary and is described in the programme instead.

Host Institute, MSME Innovative Scheme (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)

Listed at entry 749 of the Ministry's published List of Host Institutes for the incubation component of the MSME Innovative Scheme, as "Rathinam Technical Campus" (COIMBATORE, TAMIL NADU), checked 24 September 2026. This is the status that lets an innovator name the institute as their Host Institute when applying on the ministry's own portal. The list gives no approval date, no period and no status column, so whether the recognition is current cannot be told from it; and being listed is a capacity registration, not evidence that the institute has ever hosted an approved idea.

How to apply to Rathinam Technical Campus

First, check that this is for you

  • Rathinam Technical Campus takes its own students only. The Startup School enrollment form is subtitled "Only for Rathinam Technical Campus Students", and its fields ask for a year from 1st to 4th and a semester from 1st to 8th.
  • If you are a founder from outside the campus, this is not your door and there is no separate intake for you here. Go to AIC RAISE, the Atal Incubation Centre in the same group at the same Eachanari address, which has its own page on this site and its own application route.
  • Do not confuse the two on the name. The college's "RAISE Centre of Excellence" is a student skills and certification unit. AIC RAISE is the incubator.
  • If you are a Rathinam student, use both. The college's routes are where you start; AIC RAISE is where you go when you want incubation, mentors from outside the campus and a funding call.

If you are a Rathinam student

  • The Startup School enrollment form is the one general-purpose sign-up. Fill it even if you are early: it asks whether you are interested in becoming an entrepreneur, whether you have a family business, whether you have taken part in startup activity before, whether you have a firm idea, whether you have a team and whether you are ready to form one. None of those are gates.
  • One field is free text — what kind of support you need from the Startup School. It is the only place on the form where you say anything in your own words, so use it. Name the thing you are stuck on rather than describing the idea.
  • You do not need an idea or a team. Two separate questions exist precisely for students who have neither.

Using the AICTE IDEA Lab

  • The lab, branded R-Fab X Studio, is where a prototype actually gets built: 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, electronics benches and fabrication, with 24x7 access.
  • Its programmes are announced on its own page and run as short workshops. SkillForge 2026, a six-day hands-on course, took registrations through a link and a QR code in its brochure and charged no fee. Watch that page for the next one rather than waiting to be told.
  • The lab is coordinated by the college's Principal as chief mentor with a co-coordinator and four faculty from electronics and mechanical engineering. Those are the people to ask about lab access.

Putting an idea on the national repository

  • The route the college's menu calls the Idea Innovation Depot runs through the government's YUKTI National Innovation Repository, not through a Rathinam system. You register as a team, submit the idea, and then can add a prototype and a business model at later stages.
  • Your institute evaluates what you submit and results appear in the portal, so the college's faculty are the first readers. Talk to them before you submit rather than after.

What the college does not offer

  • No incubation cohort, no funding call and no deadline of its own. Nothing on the site is a programme you apply to and get selected for.
  • No desks or incubation space for anyone outside the college.
  • No founder inbox. The published contacts are the campus phone number and an admissions address for degree applicants.
  • The college is listed as a Host Institute under an MSME scheme, which is a registration that lets an innovator name it as their host on the ministry's own portal. It is not an intake, and the college's site does not mention it or say how a student would use it.

About Rathinam Technical Campus

Rathinam Technical Campus (RTC) is an autonomous engineering college at Rathinam Techzone Campus in Eachanari, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated to Anna University, approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC, and it is one of six higher education institutions in the Rathinam Group. Its startup and innovation activity is real but it is coursework and campus activity, aimed at the students already enrolled here.

Read the eligibility before anything else. The college runs a Rathinam Startup School, and its enrollment form carries a subtitle directly under the heading that settles the question: "Only for Rathinam Technical Campus Students". The form's own fields say the same thing again — it asks you to select a year from 1st to 4th and a semester from 1st to 8th, and one of its questions asks whether you want to take part in startup activity "on the present in College". There is no course field an outside founder could leave blank and no second form. A sweep of every page in the college's own sitemap turns up no incubation page, no apply page and no eligibility page for anyone who is not a student here.

The group's incubator is a different body

If you are a founder from outside, the door you want is AIC RAISE. The college's own homepage names it: the group, it says, comprises six higher education institutions, an international school, a matriculation school "and the globally recognized incubator, AIC RAISE". AIC RAISE is an Atal Incubation Centre backed by the Atal Innovation Mission at NITI Aayog, it sits at the same Rathinam Techzone address in Eachanari, and it runs its own application route and its own funding calls. It has its own page on this site. Rathinam students who want an actual incubator, rather than a campus activity, want that one too.

One warning, because the names collide. The college's own skills unit is titled "RAISE Centre of Excellence" on its website. That is a teaching centre — it exists, in its own words, to offer students value-added coursework, professional certifications and specialised skill development, and its three stated modes of operation are all curricular. It is not the incubator, and the shared word is the easiest mistake to make on this campus.

What the college runs for its own students

Three routes, all campus-gated. The Rathinam Startup School takes enrollments through the form described above and asks about family business, prior startup activity, whether you have an idea and whether you have or would form a team.

The AICTE IDEA Lab, which the college brands R-Fab X Studio, is a making space: 3D printers in FDM and SLA, a CO2 laser engraver, CNC machines, electronics benches with oscilloscopes, power supplies and microcontrollers, welding and fabrication, vertical drilling, a design room, collaboration hubs and 24x7 lab access. Its stated activities are AICTE training, workshops, ideathons, hackathons, interdisciplinary projects and mentorship to move students from concept to market-ready products. Its last advertised programme, SkillForge 2026, was a six-day skills course for students that ran in the first week of September 2026.

The third, which the college's menu calls the Idea Innovation Depot and its page calls RTC Yukthi, is not really the college's own platform. Every action link on that page goes to the government's YUKTI National Innovation Repository portal. The route it describes is that teams register, submit ideas to the repository, and the institute evaluates the submissions, with results shown in the portal — so the college is the evaluating institute rather than the operator.

Labs and centres

The college's making and lab space is student-facing and attached to teaching. The Bio-Innovation Hub, or Bio-I-Hub, was established in 2020 by Rathinam Technical Campus jointly with the Centre for Bioscience and Nanoscience Research in Coimbatore, and its own page says it exists to give students a platform for innovation and that it mentors undergraduate students; it hosts BME-Hack, a biomedical engineering hackathon run by the college's biomedical engineering and biotechnology faculty to expose students to the challenges of starting a medical device venture. The AI Skills Lab runs with Dell Technologies and Intel. Further centres of excellence cover cybersecurity and networking, data analytics and blockchain, internet of things with Rently Software Development of Coimbatore, and robotics and automation with SPI Equipment India of Coimbatore.

Be careful reading the lists of these centres. The homepage and the centres page name two different sets of hubs, and several names on the homepage — LEAD-X, CircuitSphere, FabricSpace, LENS for Data, CloudNex and Agrinity Hub — have no page anywhere on the site behind them.

Entrepreneurship inside the degree

The college describes an "Engineering+3" idea in which the engineering degree carries three added certificates: an entrepreneurship skill training programme certified by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, a skill training programme certified by the National Skill Development Corporation, and competitive exam training. These are certificates inside the degree, not a founder programme you can apply to.

Where it is

Rathinam Techzone Campus, Eachanari, Coimbatore 641021, on NH209 in south Coimbatore on the route connecting Coimbatore, Pollachi and Kerala. The college publishes a careers page and an events page. It publishes no founder inbox; the contacts on its site are for degree admissions and for named staff.
