St Aloysius Incubation Centre (SAIC) is the incubation unit of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) in Mangaluru, Karnataka. It works with people who have innovative ideas, products or services and want to build a business around them.
How the centre supports founders
Incubator support covers technical infrastructure and advice, initial growth funds, network and linkages, co-working spaces, lab facilities, mentoring and advisory support. Faculty advisors can act as mentors on start-up and technology issues.
Who can apply
Applications are open to any student, staff member, alumni, or other person who wants incubation facilities at the centre.
Facilities
The centre offers fully furnished space with Wi-Fi, along with seminar and conference halls. It provides a shared pool of resources, including photocopying, library access, journal subscriptions, meeting rooms with audio and projection equipment, and tele or video conferencing.
Seed funding
SAIC may provide seed funding, subject to the funds and schemes available for this purpose. A company can apply for seed funding after three months of incubation, and approval follows the centre's seed funding guidelines.
How long incubation lasts
Incubation is for two years. The institution may grant up to two extensions of six months each at its discretion. A review committee assesses each incubatee every six months.
