Check what is actually open before you apply

TBI-KIET's incubation page lists five funding schemes — NIDHI PRAYAS, the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, GENESIS EIR, GENESIS Pilot and GENESIS matching investment — and as of late September 2026 every one of them shows registration closed. The general incubation route is described as always open, so if a named scheme is between intakes, write to the incubator about incubation itself and ask when the next call opens.

Pick the route that matches your stage

• If you have an idea and no working prototype, and you are an Indian citizen aged 18 to 35, NIDHI PRAYAS is the one built for you. Having a working prototype already, or a commercialised product, disqualifies you.
• If you are a DPIIT-recognised company incorporated within the last two years, the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme route fits.
• If you are ICT or deeptech with a minimum viable product and a signed pilot order from a corporate, PSU or unicorn, GENESIS Pilot is the fit. Without that order you are not eligible.
• If you have raised or are raising from an angel or venture investor and want the incubator to match it, GENESIS matching investment is the one — it needs a private limited company with at least 51% Indian ownership and a valid DPIIT certificate.
• If you want investor conversations rather than a grant, The Growth Camp is a three-day residential retreat with a fixed 30 founders and 15 investors. Participants sponsor themselves, so treat it as a paid event rather than incubation.

Get the paperwork ready first

Nearly every scheme here turns on DPIIT recognition, incorporation date and Indian promoter shareholding of at least 51%. Sort those out before a call opens rather than during it. Several schemes also cap how much government money you can already have taken, so keep a clean record of prior grants.

What selection looks like

The incubator screens on innovation, feasibility and likely impact, then puts shortlisted teams through idea validation with mentors before a pitch evaluation. A seed management committee sits behind funding decisions. Be ready to explain what you will build in the next few months, why it needs the lab and workshop on site, and who will pay for it.

Play to what the campus is for

The incubator says its focus is first-generation entrepreneurs in ICT, robotics and e-mobility, and its workshop is a hardware workshop — 3D printers, a 3D scanner, CNC router and lathe, plasma cutter, laser engravers and an injection moulding machine. An application that shows how you will use that equipment fits what this incubator is set up to do.

TBI-KIET is the technology business incubator on the campus of the KIET Group of Institutions in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Its registered name is Krishna Path Incubation Society, a society formed under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and established on 28 February 2007. It was set up jointly by NSTEDB, the entrepreneurship board of the Department of Science and Technology, and KIET, and it says its purpose is to back first-generation entrepreneurs working in ICT, robotics and e-mobility.

The Department of Science and Technology's own published list of technology business incubators carries the incubator under its registered name with KIET named as the host institute, so the TBI status here is a real government recognition rather than a self-description. TBI-KIET also lists MeitY, the Ministry of MSME, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, iDEX-DIO under the Ministry of Defence, DPIIT's Startup India Seed Fund Scheme and the Uttar Pradesh government's StartinUP among its government partners, and HDFC Bank Parivartan and Mahindra World City Jaipur as CSR partners.

How incubation works

The incubator describes a six-step journey: you apply, your idea is screened on innovation, feasibility and likely impact, shortlisted teams work with mentors to validate the concept, then get continuous mentoring and access to the labs, then investor exposure and seed funding routes, then prototype and market launch, and finally graduation. Startups are invited to a pitch evaluation after shortlisting, and a seed management committee is listed as the body behind funding decisions.

How long you stay is stated two different ways on the site. One page says incubation usually runs 12 to 24 months depending on the stage of the startup and the progress it makes; another gives an average incubation period of three years. Treat either as indicative and ask the office.

Most of the named funding routes here are national government schemes that TBI-KIET delivers as an implementing incubator rather than programmes of its own: NIDHI PRAYAS from the Department of Science and Technology for idea-to-prototype innovators, the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme from DPIIT, and three parts of MeitY's GENESIS scheme — the entrepreneur-in-residence cohort, pilot funding and matching investment. As of late September 2026 all five of those show registration closed on the incubation page, so this is a moment between intakes. The one thing open is The Growth Camp, a three-day residential retreat for founders and investors in Mukteshwar in April 2026, which participants pay for themselves.

Who can apply

The incubator says students, alumni, researchers and entrepreneurs with innovative technology-driven ideas are eligible to apply. That is not restricted to KIET students, and no incorporation requirement is stated for general incubation. The individual schemes are stricter and each has its own gate: NIDHI PRAYAS is for Indian citizens aged 18 to 35 who do not yet have a working prototype; the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme needs a DPIIT-recognised company incorporated within the last two years with at least 51% Indian promoter shareholding; the GENESIS tracks need DPIIT recognition, an ICT or deeptech focus, and in the case of pilot funding a real work order from a corporate, PSU or unicorn.

Facilities

The incubator offers co-working space, dedicated offices, meeting rooms, high-speed internet and cloud credits, plus access to labs and prototyping in ICT, robotics and e-mobility. The prototyping workshop names its machines: a Sinterit LISA powder-bed SLS printer, an Ultimaker 2+ FDM printer, an Einscan Pro 2x 3D scanner, a Mehta CNC wood router, a Jyoti CNC lathe, a plasma cutter, two laser engravers, a semi-automatic plastic moulding machine, a vinyl plotter, and pneumatic and PLC SCADA trainer kits. Alongside space and machines it offers legal advisory, HR and marketing support, mentoring on technical development, market analysis and fundraising, and investor connects.

Scale

The numbers on the incubator's pages are its own, undated, and they do not agree with each other. Its about page reports 221 startups incubated since inception, 43 of them in the last three years, 111 graduated, an 80% two-year survival rate and 68% of portfolio companies securing follow-on funding. The same page gives capital raised by the portfolio twice, at figures roughly three times apart, and the homepage gives a third figure again, so no raised-capital total is worth quoting. Its own portfolio feed names 37 companies, among them Vymanik Aerospace, Nayan India Science and Technologies, EduGorilla, Carbon Light, Kibbutz Agrifood, Siddhast IP Innovation, Dtown Robotics and Kyari Innovations. For awards, it says it was a national award winner for 2020 under the Department of Science and Technology and that the Economic Times ranked it 8th among Indian TBIs and STEPs, a ranking its footer dates to 2011.

Some figures on the pages belong to the host college rather than the incubator, and the site is careful to say so: KIET's second place in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements in 2021 and its NIRF innovation band in 2024 are the college's, as is its student and alumni count.

Who runs it

Dr Manoj Goel is executive director and Saurav Kumar is general manager. Arun Kumar Aggarwal is chief finance officer, Awadhesh Kumar manages training and capacity building, Pradip Kumar Pathak and Bhudev are on the incubation team, Dharmesh Srivastava and Mamta Tripathi run CSR, and Deepanshu Jindal is executive for the innovation and entrepreneurship cell. The seed management committee is chaired by Atul Garg, Member of Parliament for Ghaziabad, and includes KIET chairman Sarish Agarwal, treasurer Sunil P Gupta, industrialists G D Jain and Neeraj Chaudhary, Praveen Kumar of TBI IIT Patna, Abhishek Tiwari formerly of Start in UP, and adviser S P Mishra.
