Vignan's Institute of Information Technology (VIIT), established in 2002 in Duvvada, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, is an engineering institution under the Vignan Group — one of South India's prominent education networks. VIIT is affiliated with JNTU Kakinada and approved by AICTE.
VIIT hosts a multi-layered startup support ecosystem:
Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) Supports students in ideation, business plan preparation, and early startup formation — including workshops, guest lectures from entrepreneurs, and mentoring sessions.
Startup and Innovation Cell Formally registered under the MoE's Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) framework, this cell:
Idea Innovation Lab A hands-on lab enabling students to transform ideas into tangible prototypes with access to basic fabrication and development tools.
VIIT's parent group — Vignan Group — operates Vignan TBI (Technology Business Incubator), a dedicated incubator focusing on: Agritech, Biotech, Renewable Energy, and Waste Management. VIIT startups can access Vignan TBI's ecosystem for structured incubation, mentorship, and investor introductions.
Approximately 4-5% of VIIT graduates have started their own ventures — a notable entrepreneurship outcome for an engineering college.
Student entrepreneurs and early-stage founders connected to VIIT or the Vignan Group ecosystem — particularly in agritech, renewable energy, biotech, and IT — seeking incubation support and mentorship.
